04 or 05 CTT

If you had a choice between these two cars, which would you be more likely to pull the trigger on, assuming they were both in similar shape mechanically:

04 CTT
Silver exterior
Black interior
41K miles on it

05 CTT
Black exterior
Black interior
74K miles on it

Both appear to have very similar features and cosmetic appearance.
Have not seen either in person, but would like to see what you would do to choose on which would be preferred. Thanks.

I'd pick the black 05 (black looks great IMO) as long as all maintenance and issues have been addressed and it checks out good. Dennis C just posted a great list of things to look at when purchasing any cayenne. Take a look at it if you haven't already. Good luck with your purchase .

Thanks for reply. This 05 is different from the one I was posting that huge long thread about...lol.

I decided not to touch that one...too many iffy things.
Most likely will have to make a family trip to see this one.

Thanks for your input. I am partial to black too.

The only thing that is really different between an 04 and 05 is that the 05 "might" have the DVD based nav system instead of the CD based nav system.

Other than that they are the same car. I think there is a a large mis guided perception that the 04 was different and less reliable. The simple reality is that there were almost more 04s made than 05-06 combined. So the perception of the number of issues with the (older and usually higher mileage) 04s is very skewed by the numbers in use.

If both were priced about the same, I would say the 04 with the less miles is a no-brainer.

Wink

Go over to renntech.org and find an owners manual. Read though it as it describes the operation of every possible option on the CTT. (usually with pictures) I found this to be a HUGE help when looking at pictures of Cayennes online. Every dealer on earth will list them as "loaded" because they have A/C and power windows

This is tough since every option was an "a la carte" thing. Just because a Cayenne has one option does not mean it has another. I saw very heavily optioned Cayennes that did not have the simplest things like "home link".

If you know what all the options look like in the manual it's easier to pick some of them out in the pictures online. (or see what is missing)

Also helpful to note little things like an "S" steering wheel looks different from a "Turbo" wheel. I saw one used one that claimed it was in a "minor" front end scrape but had an "S" steering wheel airbag in it and not the original "Turbo" version.

Will do. Hope to see another tomorrow - 05 with 45k on it. Supposed to be 1 owner (doctor or lawyer) who was very **** with it maintenance wise. Traded it at same dealer back for a Ferrari. Hope this one will be good. Will update asap.

well, I done it, settling this one.
Went with an 05CTT. Titanium Silver with black inside.
Has 45xxxK on it (lawyer owned it, and traded in for a third ferrari at the dealer where he bought it at).
got to speak to the previous owner, which made it easier to get a better level set on overall state of maintenance.
Had some of the usual things that owners complain about right off the bat. Hope this works out. Still trying to get to know this thing with the options - will be lots of reading for a while.

Thanks for all feedback. Really appreciate it.
