Burning smell when driving fast

Ok I know this has been discussed before but can't find a thread with the likely fix. When I get into the turbos there is a strong burning smell that comes from under the hood and when at a stop light it comes in the AC vents. It's really way too much to be normal. Any ideas what needs to be fixed? I also have notices that the power is almost like a wobble when into the turbos. Pulls hard but not constant pure power, more of a wobble power curve. Not sure if these two issues are related. Thanks for any help. 2006 cayenne turbo s with 90k miles.

Ok so I revd up the motor in park and was able to see some smoke under the hood driver side. Is this likely valve cover gasket?

Could also be oil leak on somewhere near exhaust manifolds. Sorry, you need to pony-up a full diagnostic for this one.....internet diags and random guesses cost way more!

I can see the oil. Not enough to drip on the ground but is enough to drip on the exhaust. I was just wondering if others have had this symptom and had to replace valve cover gaskets on this model. Obviously can't be sure until I take it in. It's actually a relief because on most cars at least valve cover gaskets are no big deal. I will call Euro tech tomorrow and see what they think and get a price.

My money is on the valve cover gaskets. It's becoming a common problem on the 955's now due to age. Luckily, the parts are relatively cheap. You should change the spark plug gaskets too while you're in there.

Follow this tutorial:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...cement.doc.htm

just be REALLY careful when reinstalling the valve cover so as not to damage the cam position trigger wheel (shown in Fig. 17 of the above tutorial).

Thanks a lot for this. This was the kind of feed back I was looking for.

I wonder if it's a good idea to change the plugs while in there too. No idea if or when they have ever been changed.
