I was one of the lucky ones who ordered the 20" snow tires from Damon and got them before he ran out.

As for the 18" package being cheaper, here's how it worked out for me: I had 20" rims that I ordered with my Cayenne. I have since decided to go to 22" rims for summer use, so the 20" rims are now my winter ones. This gave me a use for the 20" rims, other than using them as boat anchors.

Tire manufacturers make ONE annual production run of all of their snow tires in the late spring for delivery late summer/early fall. Once that run is completed they re-tool the tire presses for regular tire production. Snow tires are usually not made year round.

WOW ....those tires look great......im not trying to be annoying damon but if the tire company realizes they ran out this early in the winter season.....dont you think they would try to crank out another batch in the last month before snow starts to steadily fall ...especially up here in the NE..... i wish i had a set of winter 20's to put em on.......does anyone make a winter 22inch tire?????

Not really.

From their standpoint, the cost of tooling/retooling production lines for something that they can only sell viably for three months a year almost isn't worth it to them. But they do it to round out their product offering. It takes almost two weeks for a product line to be re-tooled. That's two weeks of NO production. When you factor in how many part numbers a company like Bridgestone has (dozens), it gets pretty expensive to have all that production waiting for lines to be ready to go again.
