New ECU - Does the dealer have to calibrate it to the immobilizer?

Coming from Audi, when you replaced your ECU it had to make a trip to the dealer to be coded to your immobilizer unit for anti-theft purposes. Is that the case in the Cayenne? Can I just buy a new ECU and put it in?

Gotcha. Did you get a second ECU or did you just chip the stocker and hope for the best? My concern is that if something were to happen, the dealer will pretty much deny any warranty work related to the motor if the ECU is chipped. Of course, if one were to have TWO ecu's and use the stocker for dealer visits, then certain things could be avoided.

Yes the new DME has to be programmed w/ the v.i.n., as well as the immobilizer code, and then code it for cruise or no cruise.
