EVO Big Turbo Cayenne TT Project
Heres my take on the cost debate from someone whos been there and done that. $15grr isn't out of line what so ever. This isn't bolting a KB blower on, changing the pulley, and mailing your ecu out to have someone throw a generic tune in it.
I can tell you with the viper stuff, $15grr doesn't cover COST on the hard parts. I'm not talking tuning, install, internal motor upgrades, driveline, etc. Just the turbo kit, turbos, exhaust, intercoolers, and all cold side parts. When you're dealing with top quality materials and top not craftsmen it just cost more.
Price out some 321 stainless U bends sometime, and take into account the hours it takes to fab/weld up the headers, machine them to make sure everything is straight after you finish the probably 15ft of linear welding, and send them off to get ceramic coated. $3k for headers, HA! You're not buying pre-fab stuff for a 70 chevelle, this is pretty much considered custom, one off, top quality stuff, and it's priced accordingly.
At the end of the day remember it has to be worth their time and effort to even bother taking on such a project. And when you figure they might sell 10-15 of them in the next year, it will be priced accordingly so as to recover their R&D investment and try to pay the electric bill.
Just for comparison sake take a look at what a reputable viper shop charges for TT kits. The bare bones starter packages are $30grr and you can triple that without blinking an eye. I commend EVO for even being able to get it done for $15grr and have it be worth opening their tool box to start the project.

As for Level 10, it's been 5 years or better since I've heard of anyone in the Supra community using that company so I couldn't comment on their latest offerings but personally I utilize a companys transmission in my 700HP Supra by the name of BoostLogic. Their transmission costs $2,000 and is currently being utilized by various 9 second Supras throughout the country. They're based in Austin, TX and you may call 512-371-9960 and ask for either Kean **** or Zohair Jaffery. Good guys. Tell 'em Gary sent ya...
Thanks for the info.

First off, I think that Evolution Motorsports deserves a lot of credit to develop and turbo kit for the Cayenne Turbo that will satisfy the needs of us horsepower junkies. I'm sure that countless man hours goes into developing a turbo kit that produce in excess of 550 AWHP. I'm a forced induction junky in my own right, being fortunate enough to own a SL55, turbo GSXR 1000 and a 700 WHP Supra. I know what these parts cost to manufacture because I've bought them for 15 years modifying 300Z's, RX 7's and the like... I guess you guys know where this is headed? I'm not frugal by any stretch of the imagination and I want the Cayenne Big Turbo Kit BAD! But first I'm gonna come out and say what the masses are afraid to say: How does one justify asking $15,000 for this kit? I know R&D costs but I've already added the cost of the parts in this kit and lets just say it's nowhere near 5 digits... Before this gets out of context by anyone I'd like to say that this thread was posted by someone who appreciates what the vendor is offerering but thinks the price is a bit extreme. This thread was not intended to start an internet riot.

Just when I was about to go ape**** over 15K the cost is now 19K? You guys have got to be ****tin' me!!! 19K FOR WHAT??? LOL! I dare anyone here to add up the cost of these parts and if you can justify spending even 10K I'll buy two of the SOB's! I think it's about time for me to sign off this thread for good because I'm not into defaming anyone or sabotaging EVO's chance to get rich but I will say this. Evolution Motorsports would sell a hell of a lot more kits if they were priced right. I'm prepared to buy mine right now but not at the cost of what two of these kits are worth... 19K spent and you STILL need transmission upgrades. Bad deal.
Let's compare that same $19K from the factory, from 450 hp now you're at 500 hp and you could spend that same thing for antoher 250-300 hp, and as for warranty? Based on what I've seen, EVOMS more than warranties their work and helps to further tune it as it needs to be. Whether it is 15K or 19K, from what I've seen, this seems like a smokin deal. You gotta pay to play, and to play with 700hp for less than $20K is incredible. Oh, and one other thing, have you ever tried to remove a turbocharger from a cayenne TT? Not an easy task, depending on how quick you can drop the engine/transmission/front suspension, once you get that done, its not too bad but simply the R&R of the turbos is a very labor intensive process. Why don't you go out and build yourself a 700 HP Cayenne and tell all of us about it. Show us what idiots we are.
Also, you don't need a tranny upgrade for the GT700 upgrade. The stock tranny seems to handle 700 HP very well. I'm talking to EVOMS about a GT800 or GT900 kit which will require a tranny upgrade. Guess what, it's another $20k!!! And I feel like I'm still getting a good deal! I'm such a sucker.
Good luck with your build. Try some of the other Porsche tuners and let me know how much you save. Or, please keep us posted on your one off 700 HP project for less than $19k.

Anybody bought this turbo kit yet? I wanna hear some performance reviews from the many of you who think that this is a great deal for $21,000. Not a knock on Evo cause I wanna purchase one but only when the price comes back to reality...

Yes Porschespeedem, I'm quite aware of what EVO650 has done with this kit. I'm seeking feedback from others who were telling me what a deal this was and how they were getting the kit. Surely they must have theirs by now at a paltry $21,000???
Turbo 955--You do realize that Gemballa in California charges 30+k for their GT750 Kit.....and they need the car for AT LEAST a month....EVO is the first to actually release a kit that has the same power for about half the price.....GO EVO MS!!! Hopefully sometime soon they will be strappin new turbo's to my CTT!!!!
