Pothole City...

I'm about to ship a '05 Cayenne Turbo to my home town - Kampala, Uganda (it will be the ONLY one in Uganda). This city is 'famous' for its potholes (google kampala pothole and you see what I mean...'The state of some roads in the capital, Kampala, is so bad campaigners have planted banana trees in the middle of potholes'...).

My question is: What would be the 'best' tire/wheel combo (size) to drive over this potholes in 150mph+ without damaging the tire/wheel?
(by the way, what tire/wheel do they use on the Dakar Rally VW Touraeg?)

150mph and hit potholes, lol...

The sheer impact of a pothole at 150mph would destroy anyhting less than a full race prepared class 7 off road race vehicle in short order.

A 17 or 18" wheel with a XL rated tire would be your most durable choice unless you wanted to greatly modify the vehicle.

Okey, but can 17" fit? Will there be room for the brakes?

HD Jimbo, I 'know' I'm dumb... to bring a Cayenne in the first place. NO ONE can fix it locally if something goes wrong. NO ONE sell tires. NO ONE can service it. Roads are terrible. Other motorists will bumb into me daily (the locals can't drive - you get your 'license' in 20 minutes) driving me crazy. I would be much better off with an old Toyota pick-up. But I want a Cayenne. And I want a Turbo. And I want to drive fast once in a while. Even if you 'memorise' all the potholes, you can't avoid hitting them once in a while. (OK, 150mph was perhaps abit exaggerated, lets say 80mph..).

You will need all the sidewall you can get- like I said before, 255/55R18 on a set of OEM 18" Turbo wheels like in my avatar.

Am I the only one who is picturing a Lord of War-esque scene when reading this? Like you driving around town @ 100 mph in the Cayenne while firing a M60 and shouting at people.

'Thank you but I prefer it my way'
