Questions on modding a CTTS...

Looking at the FabSpeed ByPass Pipes. Can they really make 27hp? Seems like a lot. With the Bypass Pipes, Chip, DV's and Vflow it should be close to 600Hp, right? It will be here late next week so I need to get some advice. Doing Rinspeed 22's and eventually the lowering module.

I have no CTT-S experience, but the Fabspeed ByPass Pipe made a noticeable difference with my V6 lag issue.

Bobby, I noticed in one of your posts that you had your pipes put in at a place in Elmsford? Where abouts are they and were you satisfied with their work? I work in White Plains so I am right down the street.

I have the secondary cat-bypass pipes on my CTTS. They may put out another 25-30hp but you really can't feel it. You would need at least a 10% improvement in power to feel the diff. The by-pass pipes do provide a nice V8 rumble sound at idle and on strong acceleration-more noticable from outside than inside. Porshce already optimized the stock hardware. I hear that new diverter valves will gain few more hp. We'll need to go with larger turbos w/ ECU mod. for any appreciable gains.

What about just software? Which turbos are on the CTTS?

Turbo and Turbo S essentially use the same hardware. Turbo S has modded ECU, larger intercoolers, tranny programming, bigger brakes plus cosmetics upgrades. You probably already know all that. I checked into upgrading ECU further, but Porsche basically already did this with the Turbo S so we would not see much gain if any with the available ECU mods out there for CTT's. Perhaps a special program developed specifically for the CTTS is possible but unlikely given that the potential is limited by current hardware. So larger or modded turbos w/ correspondingly modded ECU would be the next step for a significant step up in power.

Interesting, thank you for the info. I did know most of those facts, but I appreciate your time in explaining them. 520hp should be enough anyway, I am coming from a 350hp X5 4.6is. I guess the bypass pipes and maybe the vflow will be about all that needs to be done powerwise.
Have you been happy with yours and can you give me a little insight on it? How long you have had it and how many miles? Thanks again for your time!!

Well, with the secondary by-pass pipes we could theoretically claim to be in the 540+ range! Mine is just over a year old, silver and now has 9k miles. The CTTS is really already nice as it is and I have been surprisingly happy with it. I think its a great overall ride since it does so much well, especially for such a big and off road capable vehicle. I really enjoy shocking other sporty cars with its speed. I came to the same conclusion as you, a few tweaks is all mine will get since I don't appreciate the reaming I take come resale time-especially when I've gone the super-mod route. I've considered selling it for a sedan since that's all I really need, but I still enjoy too much. So far, it's all been good-aside from the gas milage. All in good fun right?

Rennwerke in Elmsford- he charges $98 per hr for labor. Cheech (the owner) has a dry sense of humor and you just have to kid him back to deal with his moodiness- he enjoys the banter- but Cheech has a good reputation.
He refers to my Cayenne as that truck. Gotta check out the 356's- very cool.
They did a good job, and my car was nice and clean when I picked it up.
Bad experience with Pepe?

Sounds good, he will install my bypass pipes when I get them. I actually have never dealt with Pepe. I know a salesman at New Country but have not dealt with them either. Pepe is not mod friendly from what I have heard and my Porsche 996 turbo is a Ruf Rturbo conversion. I have not had to do any servicing on it since I purchased it. I am now selling that and my X5 for the CTTS which will be here at the end of next week. I bought that from Isringhausen in Illinois since none of the local dealers had what I was looking for. Which dealer do you reccommend for servicing since I will have a full warranty?

I do mine at Pepe. I like the service manager, and you get a 25% discount on labor if you show your PCA card at write-up. 20% off on parts with PCA, but the parts prices can sometimes be over MSRP. They sell Fabspeed and Tubi exhaust.
