2011 Cayenne A/C Question
2011 Cayenne A/C Question
It is HOT and HUMID here in NC. I've owned several German/European cars and this is the first one that has given me this problem. Normally I just set the temp in the car to 72 and let it ride. I have to set it to 65 in automode for it to blow hard enough to keep the car cool otherwise it slows the fan and warms the air up. I went into the vehicle settings and set airflow to strong and turned off the ventilation panel. Both of these helped, but i still have to keep it turned way down. I'm thinking it's a temperature sensor issue as the air gets very cold when set down to 65, but it warms up when you raise the temperature. It's almost as if it thinks it's cooler inside the car than it really is. Anyone else having this problem? There is a fella in Kansas on one of the other forums who reports the same thing.

I have had a similar problem with the 2005 in that you had to cool down the vehicle for a long time. This is with the standard and not 4 zone air condition. I need to keep the temp down to 65 in order to cool the car. But after about a 1/2 hour, it cools nicely above 65. There is a temperature sensor near the driver vent may be the culprit.
Will take it in for a visit to service when I have the time.

Same issue here. I have to keep it at 66 and seat vents to highest to be cool and it's really loud(both vents and the seat fan). It's only getting up to 80's here and I'm wondering what I'm going to do once real summer comes around.
Jace- do you ever notice the air blows out a little warmer at times? My AC doesn't seem to have a problem cooling the car (gets plenty cool), just on occasion, warmer air will blow out for a couple mins, and then it reverts back to cool air. Thx.

Does this happen in AUTO mode. I'm assuming that it blows out warmer air because the AC compressor shuts down to maintain the desired temperature setting just like how a home AC unit works by shutting it off when the desired temp setting is reached.
My two previous cars would only adjust the level of the fan, not the temp, when using Auto mode, but you could be on to something about the AC compressor cycling on/off.
Sorry to hear you're experiencing the same thing, seems like we're not alone. And it's not an issue with the AC not getting cold enough, it's just the random min or so blowing warm air. Wonder if this is how it's supposed to work like Aperture mentioned with the compressor cycling off?
