958 S engine oil question!
958 S engine oil question!
porsche told me to do the service after 15000KM..
i've done about near 8000KM and i've got two missing bars at engine oil indicator.. still says OK.
should i take it to service? or is it ok?
i started my car with one bar missing and is this normal??
is it really ok to go all the way to 15000KM??
i would be more comfortable with 10000KM...
anyways! hope all porsche owners are doing all GOOD!

This is strange for me because I come from the old school of 3000 miles between oil changes, but so far so good.
Yes VinceV its true.. i'm also use to changing oil every 5000km.. and now 15000km?
this is very uncomfortable...
and wow! FC_ !! one bar left!?!? in 2200km??
hope the computer pops up some kind of warning message for that!

dealer said it was normal to consume that much over few thousand km. Anyways he just added a whole bottle. And my dealer also told me the car only needs to be serviced every 15000km.
I know after reading and my sales rep telling me that I may need to add a quart every now and then, but all the oil burned in that short distance you cause me to think something wasn't right. I have over 3300 miles now and haven't burned any oil, all levels are the same.
Is your oil plug loose?
EDIT---
After rereading your post, I'm going to assume you meant you were down 1 bar after 2200 km, not that you had 1 bar left. Hopefully that's what you meant.

haha I had 1 bar left at 2200 km, maybe something is wrong. Guess i will be visiting the dealership soon

I wonder if they somehow add up all the services and then KAPOW!!!! Hit you with this super 32000km bill.
Cayenne S, 2011: Oil change is mandatory every 10,000 miles - paid approx. $300 for the first service (why not offer this for free, like BMW does?). They also updated computer program as part of the service - not sure what it does but engine seems to be performing better now. I'm not pushing the car very much and with mixed driving, one quart of oil needs to be added approx. every 4000 miles. I'm being assured that this is normal for this model.
I just turned 4,000 miles on my Cayenne S and I've added 3 quarts of oil. It seems like one every 1,300 miles or so? Weird, this is the first new car that's needed it.. I guess this normal to some extent?
