Clear Sidemarkers

What kinda of light bulbs you guys use with the clear sidemarkers?? I have tried couple different clear bulbs but they all got over heated and melted the surrounding of the housing. I was thinking about LED bulbs but it might look weird from outside. Any suggestion??

I use the orange bulbs that came with the part from Suncoast. I think legally you have to use the orange bulb if you have clear side markers.

I was trying to avoid the egg yolk look. I am not sure if it's illegal to have white light bulbs for sidemarkers because I have been using it for my bmw for the past few years and never got caught.

Just because you get away with something doesn't make it legal. But you could be right, check out the NY laws.

you can't seriously tell me cops would go around looking at your side marker lights and write tickets.

dimseem: how many watts are those bulbs? I am running similar bulbs for about 2 months and haven't seen anything unusual yet, but the light seems darker than stock so I was wondering if I had lower wattage compared to yours. I think mine are 5 watts.

The OEM bulbs for the amber side markers are clear. They should be 5 Watts. Check the wattage of the bulbs you've been using. Here are some options.

Here's what I've been using for the past year and a half or so... You don't see the Amber when not in use, but they light up Amber. Definitely 5W.

I put in led's. Make sure if you do you need the ones with several LEDs and the insert part looks like a microchip board. If you put a regular led bulb you will get an error light on the dash even tho it still lights up. I learned the hard way

I am not too sure about the wattage. I got the bulbs from Solaris InvisiBulbs. I bet they are over 5 watts.

I shouldn't say Clear bulb. What I meant was Xenon white bulb. Thx for the suggestion anyway.

Suncoast sells them cheap with the clear marker and the amber bulb. Use the fishing line method of installation (just search for it). You'll be done in less than 4 minutes for both and a big improvement, IMO

Have you by change found one that works for the license plates? I've tried multiple vendors and get rid of the errors for the rears. My signal LEDs work great and no error up front but if you move them to the rears they light up.

To OP I'll try to post some pics for you but they are not that noticeable in the day time and who really walks up to your car to look at your bulbs?
