I'm at about 13k miles and I'm thinking about changing brake pads front and rear. I'm not going with OEM because of the dust issue. I am looking at EBC Red Stuff. Does anybody have any experience with EBC brakes? Any other recommendations?

 

I don't know if it would be the same for Porsche but when I had the same problem with my Mercedes I switched to Akebono pads and they stopped the dust 98%. I was amazed at the difference.

 

George. For the heck of it I looked up Akebonos for the Cayenne and couldn't find anything. I don't know anything about the other brands.

 

Thanks for looking into it for me. I just ordered the EBC Red Stuff brakes. I'm going to order the brake sensors next. I'm wondering if i'd be able to re-use them if my mechanic removes them carefully. Hmmmm...

 

i dont know if all of them are or not for the cs and pannys, but ive bought oem panamera s and cayenne brake pads from porsche dealers part dept and when i opened the box the pads were made by akebono for porsche. i kno for 911's ive seen oem pads made by ferado, jurid, etc. first time ive seen akebono as a oem porsche supplier. and no need to buy new sensors, u can reuse the old ones, use a pick or small flat head and they just pop out

How can I confirm which brakes I need?

 

assuming you have a 958 MY 11, 12 or 13 cayenne turbo then u need the bottom two pads. 2010 was the face lifted last gen cayenne which uses different calipers then the 958s, theyre basically saying you can only get them in yellows and you need to pay the price increase difference.

 

What you give up in dust creation will be balanced by higher disc wear. energy from braking has to be dissipated some way!
