If I want to update a 2011 PCM to a 3.1 system do I just need a new head unit?

My system has Navigation, Burmester, Bluetooth, XM satellite, 6 disk changer and voice control.

Album art and Jukebox start part way through the 2013 model year on vehicles built from Nov 2012. Online service also became available. Because there is a built-in hard drive for the Jukebox, perhaps there is a hardware change also.

 

Used PCM unit which I bought is made on october 2012. removed from 2013 car. It's a little early for album art? I can not check album art becouse I don't have usb on my car. Software version is 3.42.
By the way, I am impressed with the system pcm 3.1 in relation to standard cdr31.

I believe album art is also displayed on CDs that have metadata attached to each song file.

 

Hi, id'like to do exactly the same on my 2011 cayenne. I had read all posts, will you recommend to do the same , what is the main difficult to do.

I found a unit on market which seems to be for panamera, does it fit with cayenne also
My is 2011 model.
Regarding the amp kit to be done for non boose, does it mandatory?
Does the speakers are working without?

Panamera pcm has different shape first of all.
You will hear sound on low volume if connect pcm directly without amp.

I ask the question because you can find unit on the market which are round angle and also square angle very similar to Cayenne model but sell as "panamera compatible"
Is there a model to specify when we look for this unit dedicated to cayenne to be sure?
I'm currently have only CDR and as conversion taking time , would like to get Bluetooth fonctionnality
does the codes for CDR and PCM are the sema for this fonctionnality or would I have to buy a second time when i'll done the conversion to PCM?
What is a reasonable cost to get the code VS Porsche dealer directly?

You need CAYENNE pcm, not panamera compatible.
Bt code buy new one.
Try ask dealer for code, but imo no chance get code officially until you pay $$$$$$ dealer for official retrofit.
