Hello

I want to replace my CDR 31 for a PCM 3.1 sell by suncoastparts.com

Does anyone experience doing that?

Saludos

It may not be possible/practical. The problem is that you won't have the GPS module/antenna since you didn't get the PCM. Depending on what mood PAG was in at the time they built yours you probably don't even have the proper wiring harness to connect the GPS module/antenna.

The first step would be to pull the CDR out and compare it's plug to what the PCM requires. If you're lucky they use the same plug which should mean that at least basic functionality (e.g. everything the CDR does) would be plug and play. If it's a different plug you'll be in for a real mess trying to get it to work. I didn't think to take pics of my PCM when I pulled mine out, so I can't help there.

My guess is that the unit itself is possibly plug and play so long as you are matching options (e.g. base (though that could be an issue), bose, burm), but you won't have the Navigation functionality and getting that part to work will involve both time and money.

Normally when you have PCM/Navi, it also comes with higher amplifier output and more speakers even when you do not upgrade to Bose.

Yeap. Just depends on if the extra amplification and speaker control is in the unit or another unit that the head feeds. That's why I said the base system could still be an issue. The upgraded options shouldn't have this concern.

Not Cost Effective

Many folks use their iPhone or Android for Nav purposes. I doubt you'd recoup this expensive swap.

It is easy install PCM in Cayenne,
This is official procedure, You can do this at any dealer.
If you car not equipped BOSE (I9VL) or Burmeister (I9VJ) you need install amp with wiring.
958.645.302.00
958.645.225.00
958.612.530.00
958.612.090.20
955.044.902.44
999.652.570.22
955.044.902.23
958.044.900.17

And you need order new USB wiring and connector if would like use USB aux.

It is expensive procedure, but most expensive part is PCM unit from dealer.

But now you can buy PCM anywhere, few times cheaper, and install with all possible features, i.e. Aux, Bluetooth, Navi, Sport Chrono, Voice control etc.

I mean you can get all activation codes not from a dealer only.

All you need - some tech info and PIWIS2.

I have Cayenne diesel with CDR31 base, and I also want to change to PCM 3, I talked with Porsche center in my country, they can do it, and it is very expensive, on their offer the most expensive part is amp. It is crazy. So I will search more about this PCm retrofit.

you can install original amp and wiring, or use aftermarket with custom wiring.
Install head unit from Ebay, obtain codes and go to workshop who have PIWIS2, (dealer for example) to activate features and upload navi data if need
Buy and install mic, USB connector, left understeering arm (for voicecontrol), sport chrono....
List of available features much wider if compare with dealer's offer.

Hi Sir,
One question about PCM 3 retrofit,
I found a few Pcm units on ebay but problem is following. They said that this PCM 3.1 only fit on vehicles with Bose or Burmester(DVJ or DVL). Not fit on NON-Bose unit? Any solution to solve this? They have activation key. Second unit on ebay is 500 usd. but without activation key(without vin no.)
this unit is cheap, only 500 usd.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2011-2012-Po...43e009&vxp=mtr

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-Caye...5748ff&vxp=mtr

When ordering PCm unit from Suncoast, there is a option to select if car is without bose. (standard radio add 525usd) This is my case.
http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...de=958V6INTelc

My Cayenne with CDR31 also have Bluetooth telephone, (I select this option when ordering new car). And Park-assist.
So if I Install PCM I want to have these previous nice options.

Thanks for help!

three posts upper find list of major parts, they told 550 for them

If you install PCM @dealer they'll activate BT, because code already present in Porsche system. Parktronics will work without activation.

Probably you will want USB aux. Dealer will sell you kit.

And they'll not offer any other features.

How much you will pay for all @Suncoast?

OR

You can order 500$ used head unit, pay 550 for OE amp and cables or little bit less for smart guy for any 4ch ic based amp and custom wiring.

After that you need codes to activate all tasty things:
Navi
BT
USB
Spors Chrono
Individual memory
Offroad navi
Compass
Voice control

I can help you obtain all this codes and detailed how-to and what need to buy. And all of them together will cost you less then 1000$
You need piwis2 to input codes, find somethere or ask dealer, will they input codes if you will bring them on paper.

Thanks for info!

Price for new PCM 3.1 from Suncoast is 3.750 usd plus 525 for amp

Price for used PCM 3.1 on ebay is 500 usd, very good price,
thay said
PCM 3.1 unit pulled from a fresh new Porsche Cayenne 2012. (North America)
CD CHANGER, NAVIGATION, XM Radio, etc...
Mint condition with absolutely no sign of wear.
It requires an authorization code from Porsche to be fully functional.
Otherwise, it's good for parts only. (eg. LCD pannel replacement)
I don't have its VIN number either.

----
So this unit can work on my car?
This PCM is from North America market, no problem about that?
but seller is from North Korea!

Now I will ask Porsche dealer about imputing codes. But I think that amp and cables for this retrofit from Porsche are crazy expensive.

Please can you write Part name for each code below,
I want to check price with Porsche, Thanks a lot for help.

If you guys are going to all this trouble I would suggest the new 2014 PCM as it added additional features (HDD, album art, etc...).

That would mean a new unit though I expect..
