Question 15 Cayenne Diesel Oil Level Sensor

Hello folks,

My CD has 10K miles on it. I went to the dealer to have an oil change done. When I drove back home, I got "Oil Level is above max, visit workshop soon" warning. I went back to the dealer and they extracted some oil, I got same message again "Oil Level is above max, visit workshop soon" when I got home. I visited the dealer and they measured oil using their special dipstick and said oil level is fine, it might be the sensor. I also took it to another dealer, they said oil level is fine (Half way from Min to Max) using their dipstick. Now, why did sensor fail only after 2nd oil change? Have you guys seen this warning before? Any advice?

Thank you.

Have them replace the oil level sensor. It is a high class VW-Audi part....

Even new parts fail, that's why you have a warranty. Schedule a visit and they'll replace it.

No issues with my 13 and I haven't read any complaints so I don't think it's a common issue.

Thanks. I am waiting for the dealer to get back to me regarding sensor availability.

Does anyone know of an accurate dipstick that can be used for 15 Cayenne Diesels?

There is a dealer tool you can get ($$$), but it can not be left in the motor.

Some people have mentioned using dipsticks from the previous generation Q7/T-Reg (e.g. 957 siblings as the current variants don't have dipsticks either) and I haven't seen any issues reported, but I'm leery of that practice since we don't have details on what the proper length should be.

I've just ordered this from eBay... Correct part number for the cayenne/toureg. At $16 it's a risk I'm quite happy to take!

I'm using a modified Audi dipstick. Just need to trim a bit off the handle.

Anyone else having CD oil level and oil temp issues?
2013 CD ~56k miles - Have had oil level and oil temp issues twice.
First time the level went to minimum and the temp spiked to 238F at the end of a multi day trip doing 60mph. No prior issues with level or temp, having two air-cooled 911s I always monitor the oil. Called Porsche roadside assist, they suggested adding oil which I did - then got an overfill indication. Dealer sucked excess and both level & temp went back to normal.
Couple of months later same issue again ~700 miles after an oil change. Dealer replaced the oil sensor that monitors both level & temp. They also reduced the oil level so it is one bar below max to allow for expansion.
Had dealer measure level with shop dip stick to baseline oil level. While I believe this is an indication issue, want to verify our CD is not loosing oil.

I did the same. Now I know my electronic gauge is not accurate.
