Question Did this really happen?

Have a 2013 958 Turbo.
It is in the driveway with the front windows down.
There is a sudden down pour.
Couple of minutes after the rain starts I hear the alarm going off.

Was this truck telling me the rain was getting inside???????????????

The alarm was to tell you the electrics were getting fried ;-)

Did you lock the car? If so, it's probably the ultrasonic interior motion sensors (part of the alarm system to trigger on an interior intrusion) getting triggered from the rain entering the cabin

Oh man, I hadn't considered that. I always thought the alarm module being at the lowest point in the 996 was stupid, but the Cayenne has the whole battery down there!

The Cayenne battery and electronics location down low is what limits the ability to make water crossings. Considered getting a snorkel but the engine is not what limits depth.

What did they do for the Transsyberias?

There is another video showing it getting winched out, but the electrics are clearly still working:

Would like to know too! As we use our CD off-road, a solution would be a big help.

I know a guy down the street from me that has one. I emailed him to see if he'll weigh in. I really need to get off my *** and walk down and see him and the truck. Driving by it almost everyday it is one awesome sight

The Transsyberia Cayenne in the rally were specially made for the rally by the factory. They made around 27 of them at $250k. The 2010 special edition Transsyberia Cayenne is just a GTS with special paint, graphics and some options packaged together. Safe in water up to somewhere around 22 inches due to different door seals- no snorkel.
I have the Transsyberia that gnat mentioned.
