Coolant Leak
Coolant Leak
Hello All,
Driving down the highway today and my add coolant light comes on. Good thing it was my exit and had to only drive a mile. The temperature gauge never moved off of 180. Pulled into my driveway and there was coolant leaking out of the bottom. Took down the skid plates but it was getting dark so I couldn't see anything. What has been everyone's past experience with this? I know there are multiple scanerio's. I do remember that the main coolant lines under the intake are plastic and go bad and that the replacement part is aluminum. Go figure just put it up for sale. Thanks for the info.

Respectfully,
I just went through this. Take a hose and run it under the plenum. Don't shove it in there just put it in and turn the water on gently after the car has cooled. Try not to soak any electrics. This should hopefully rinse out most of the residue. This should hopefully prevent the starter from just getting soaked by coolant and eventually ruining it.
Don't drive the car. Have the dealer flat bed it to the shop or to your indy. The pipes will have to be replaced.

I would say, most likely it is your coolant pipes, as BLKPPR said. There are prone to failure in the S and Turbo.
We carry the full coolant pipe kit, which includes all new pipes, gaskets, and coolant.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to PM me.

Bought the kit from ECS Tuning. Plastics pipes broke off into the thermostat housing and the big one broke off into the back of the engine. Pane in the butt to get out but everything else was straight forward. The instructions that come with the repair kit are for a turbo. Mine was an S so my battery was under the spare not under my seat. Pretty straight forward. Thank you ECS Tuning very much, you guys saved me $1300 bucks.
