The price set by a detailer varies from region and detailer skill. I believe what you're asking is simply an exterior detail with one-stage paint correction. Assuming the imperfections aren't too aggressive, and a 1-stage polish gets the paint 90+% of the way there, look to spend about $325-700. I know that's a wide range, but also find out the scope of work. For us, this would be an exterior detail and 1-stage polish. This would take about 6-7 man hours. We'd be cleaning wheels, wheel wells, claying paint and windows, polishing/waxing door jams, cleaning and conditioning black exterior plastic and rubber, cleaning off old wax residue, and much more. Based on scope of work, and the experience of the detailers here working on the car, we'd be charging on the higher end of spectrum. The experience of a detailer is very important because it means the job is done right the first time and without guessing on what should be done.

Good question.

Hope this helps.

David, thanks for the order and I look forward to coming over and showing you how all this stuff works. You'll love the flex and the nano products.

My question is what is the best product I can use on the rest of the car to minimize the marks from tarballs that I get on the track? I was thinking something like an Eagle One nanowax spray.

Any other detailing advice before taking this beauty on the track would be welcome!

Thanks!
If you have a good quality wax, most these tar and cone marks can simply be wiped off, or with a mild solvent (on paint only). I autox as well and simply wash the car after the event, and I'm good.

The newest technology is Nano. Simply put, nano becomes a new layer on the clear coat and everything sits on the nano, not the actual clear coat. So the surface has an amazing level of surface resistance, therefor, not getting dirty as fast and not allowing contaminants to adhere as strongly.

Hey Moe,

I am a beginner in car detailing so my question is do you recommend a swirl finder light to try and achieve better results, if so which one? I did try to search the topic and did not see anything hope I did not miss it. Thanks.

Different lights will show different imperfections. But the light is only a small part of the strategy. How you LOOK at the light is key. Our eyes focus in and out without any hesitations. Much like a camera lens. So practice focusing on different things using different lights. For example, you can focus on the reflection on the ceiling and you'll find different imperfections. Focus on your reflection in the paint and you'll see other imperfections.

We use LED lights and we have high bay lights in the shop that show us all the imperfections too. When using the led, look at the light both at point of contact on the surface and the surrounding areas of the light as well. And also make sure to tilt your head and move side to side to pick up everything.

Hope this helps.

Try and keep related towels together. For example, I wouldn't wash glass towels with a fluffy exterior towel. Reason being, glass towels usually have no nap and if you mix them with a terry mf towel, you'll get lint in the glass towel and that transfers to the windows.

I wash mine with some micro restore and tide liquid w/o bleach or fab softener. I use a normal cycle and have on warm water. When drying, keep it on fluff or very low heat and pull them out just before they're thoroughly dried.
