Buying 430... HELP

Hi

I have been dreaming of owning a F430 since it first came out, and now is my chance. There are two cars on my mind right now, but I'm not sure which one is a better buy, value wise. So as part of the 6speed family, I hope people can give me some advice and opinions.

Both cars are Black on Black.
1st car:
2006 F430 F1 Coupe with 3300 miles. But I will be the 4th owner of the car
MSRP: 242K
Has all the options you can think of. Ceramic Brakes, Carbon everything including carbon engine bay. Red contrasting stitching through out the interior, red gauge and red brakes.
Asking: 225k

2nd Car:
Brand new 2008 F430 F1 Spider
MSRP around 265K
Shields, Yellow calipers, polished rims, chrome tailpipes, elec. daytona seats, full leather, hifi with sub, carbon dash, yellow tach, ipod.
Asking MSRP

Or I have an option to get a New 599 Red/Tan for MSRP.
Loaded with recaro seats, bose, full leather, full carbon, navi, 20" rims, and more..
MSRP 420K

I understand a car is not an investment. But I'm planning to keep the car for a year or two, which car will keep is value the most? In another words, which car would you buy for the money?

Thanks in advance.

2nd one sounds good to me.

I'd avoid the 599, it won't be too long before it suffers the dreaded 'V12 Ferrari Depreciation'.

Enjoy whatever you go for, the F430 is a great car.

Regards
Mr G.

If you're looking at the 599 price level you should also consider the new Scuderia, IMO it'll hold the most value compared to the other options you mentioned in the next 1-2 years.

You are looking at very different items. An all black coupe as you've described sounds great to me without taking the big hit. Who cares if you are the 4th owner unless the car isn't in good shape or the miles are high. As for the spider, great-looking no doubt but unless you are dying to have a convertible then why? I agree with poster on 599 due for it's fall. 400+K? Great car but waaaayyyy too much dinero IMO. Good luck!

First one seems the right choice

I think you would be best to first narrow your choice as to which model and what your intended use/interests are with the car. Then go from there.

Be advised that with the current economy new cars will devalue. So, don't be foolish to think the car will hold its "value" in a year or two. Why do you think those "new" cars are being offered to you w/o a 4 year wait and w/o you having previously bought a Ferrari.

It's not a good time to be selling high end products right now.

With that in mind you might want to consider previously owned. You have much better initial value regardless of the # of owners and you will suffer much less depreciation.

I'm pretty set on a 430... you guys think I should wait for the market to come down? I prediction the market will be very flexible at the end of the year or early next year.

By the mere fact you are asking these questions I have to believe you are not paying attention the the US financial situation and you are unsure of your decisions! That's a dagerous position in which to be.

Real estate won't see a turn for at least a few years if that. You think the car market will be stable?

Forget the analysis of a car holding value. That's nonsense.

You buy the car for enjoyment not investment.

Start doing serious thinking on this before you move on it.

Go with the 2008 F430. Four owners on the first one scare me

I think the second sounds best.

Not only is it brand new (miles AND owners AND MY08 taken into account), but it's only $40K more! And the only substantial option it's missing is Ceramics.
But both sound pretty nice actually. Can't go wrong. I'd pass on the 599, but that's me.

What a shock in this economy to be able to just step up and buy 2 different Ferrari's brand new at MSRP without being in the club. I've had a 430 to get in club, but bailed later. From my resale and what I watch, the 06 is over prices quite a bit. The new 08 is a good deal based on past buying, but it may fall in 2 years. That would not have happened in the past. Ask the dealer if they will still buy back at MSRP like club members get. Just get one, cause they are wonderful cars to own. Make sure it has F1.
