430 or Gallardo?
I agree with the statements about getting a Murci instead... But if I had to pick between just these two, I would def. pick the F430... It's much faster then the Gallardo and in my opinion, it looks much better. The 3.5sec. 0-60 and 11.7 1/4mile@120-123mph are numbers that speak for themselves. That's supercar status! (Just so you all know, these numbers were achieved by more then one magazine) The F430 also has amazing braking and handling. Although the price is high, the level of performance that you get, is just as high. Hence the quote, "you get what you pay for."
I love Lambos and I'm def. mad for the Murci... But the Gallardo doesn't appeal to my senses much. The performance is good, but not good enough for my liking... F430 all the way!
Just my 2 cents.

Recently several magazines have tested the 430, noting it not being anywhere near as quick as originaly stated. Most recently Autocar, got a 12.6@119 in the 1/4, whereas the Gallardo turned an 11.7. But magazines are magazines, during the Gumball there were several 430's and several Gallardos, and according to the drivers, the 430's are not faster.
As for choosing the 360 over the Gallardo. Last Decemebr, i took my uncles 04 360 Spider for a ride, and drove straight down to Prestige Imports and test drove a Gallardo. I wanted to try and get a good comparison between the 2. There wasnt any, although i must admit, i prefered the Murci to both. The Gallardo has so much more torque, the interior fits so much better, and for me the styling is not even close. After the drive, i took the 360 home, and never took it out again, especially after the embarrasment of not being able to get away from a taxi on the highway. I did note, that the 360 was a big improvement over my 355 spider. Not in power, but in build quality.
Fact remains, #1 most traded in car for the Gallardo is the 360.

About the 360... It's a nice car, but I would much rather have a Gallardo over it... But the F430 is a whole different story, styling and performance wise. I see it as a huge improvemnet from the 360 and a new benchmark for Ferrari.
If the Gallardo is indeed faster as you said though, I would want it over the F430. I am more into performance than anything and would want the faster car!

I dont know, im just not a fan of the styling. I saw it in Vancouver for the first time at an Autoshow there. It was parked next to a Gallardo. Huge line around the Gallardo, not much going on with the 430. It just looks to me like a more riced out 360. I think the back of the 360 looked better before. Here is the Autcar report on the 430. The 430 also recently lost to the new M5. On another board they raced the new M5 against a Gallardo, and said it was close, but the Gallardo still won.
Thanks a lot allanlambo, disregard everything I said before...
I read the article, where the M5 beat the F430... I am very suprised to say the least. Kudos to BMW, but... It's kind of pathetic if a family sedan that costs half the price, can take the F430s panties off... I guess Ferrari has to go back to the drawing table.

but you shouldn't have the same prob with the 430, it seems to be much faster?for me btw 430 & Gallardo it's a tough choice ... though I prefer the AWD & styling of the G.
Nico you can't go wrong with either one.

I've have read numerous mag. articles ( domestic and international) regarding Gallardo's performance and not a single one has it doing a 1/4 mile under 12 sec. The average is 12.5 sec.
I would hazard a guess and say: The number #1 traded in car for the F430 is the Gallardo.
