Buying a 348 targa, 92. Tips ?
Hey guys,
I'm new to Ferrari and I'm going to see a '92 348 targa.
The price listed is $49995.
I know the basics of what to look for, vehicle history etc. but nothing specific to these vehicles.
I'm coming from a Porsche background, and this is all very new to me.
Can any of you guys give me pointers on what I should pay attention to on 348's ?
Many thanks !

The magazine Forza has excellent used car buyers' guides a few times a year, or so. Very comprehensive and detailed, and specific to each individual model year, including problems, recalls, valuations, etc. It would definitely be worth looking into before purchasing. I'm sure you can find info. on line, and probably a used copy of the particular mag that covers used 348's for sale, on eBay.
I think the most common gremlin for 348's is the electrical system, and you definitely should investigate if some years are better than others, fixes, etc. Otherwise good luck. I've owned a few (F-cars), and they've all been a lot of fun. But the initial purchase price is usually just the beginning.
Exhibit A would be the 308 in my signature line below that I purchased this summer, soon to be the subject of a new thread entitled "How to buy a $40,000 "perfect" car, spend another $60,000 on it, and $100,000 later have it still be worth $40,000 . . ."
Still, out on a twisty mountain road, that V-8 singing through a Tubi exhaust: hard to beat!

Well, me not being one to hang around...
I drove up there this afternoon, had a good sniff around the 348.
It's in fabulous condition, not a stone chip in sight, sounds great.
So, I pulled the trigger and bought it.
I feel $50k lighter, but I don't feel like a Ferrari owner yet.
I get to pick it up later this week, maybe next week, basically as soon I can transfer money to him. Paperwork is done though.
Man, why is it I always feel like puking when I've spent too much money, happened when I bought the P-car too.
Pics as soon as I get it.
But, in the meantime, here's the link :
