It's not even close...now compare a Gallardo to a F430 and it's a tough call
BTW, a light tossable feel is not good in my book, i want a car that sucks down around corners

Bottom line, any serious buyer will drive both and know in just a few minutes which car is for him. And the driver's car is the 360.
And no, it's not a close call to compare the G and the 430, the 430 addresses the only drawback of the 360, and goes way beyond the Gallardo. The 430 is way more car than the Gallardo.

i would only consider a 360 compared to a gallardo if the Ferrari was a spider, but even then.. i would still get a gallardo myself
i've been in a gallardo and loved the feel and the ambiance as a whole .. not exactly a "raw" interior, but neither is the 360 (compared to a 355 at least)
have you sat in one? i think that's the first thing you should consider, which is the car you "enjoy" being in more than the other? personally, i think that is something you have to decide even before actually driving either
as for ownership and maintenance costs, i personally find the numbers posted by owners of Ferraris to be ridiculous compared to what i pay when it comes to labour .. of course, parts are expensive but here's where "it's a second/third/etc car" plays in
one thing however that i always think makes the Gallardo a much more reliable car is the fact (unless my facts are wrong?) that it has chains instead of timing belts
to me, that's like comparing a 996TT and a 360 .. the 360 really would stand no chance in appealing to someone who plans to drive the car a lot while thinking of running costs
also, did you consider the sound of both? trust me, this is VERY important .. just rolling down the windows in my F-car (even in 46 degrees celcius weather) and listening to the tone makes ownership and using garage space worthwhile
the 360 sound is frowned upon by many, unless you install an aftermarket exhaust (which does the job, in my opinion)
if you care about screens and navigation and that sort of thing, i saw a gallardo once with a screen .. something which the 360 (not even the 430?) cannot offer *edit*
good luck with the decision making

Unless you own one of the rare Gallardo SE (2006 only) models, most G-car values fall like crazy, of coures if this is not a concern then no point in talking about it here.
I've driven the 360 many times in both 6-speed/F1 forms. The only one I have not driven or rode in is the CS version. If you are looking at an older 99/01 360, then I would be all means say its the best value for your money if you want looks and low entry fee (cost).
The 360 handles great and I dare to compare it to my s2000 in terms of handling. You point it and it goes where you want like a surgeon's razor. It's not the fastest car but who cares, the sound is intoxicating and draws looks anywhere. No matter how fast say a P-car is, it's still a P-car and the F-car will win hands down.
The Gallardo is more like a brute and has tons of power and weight. The AWD makes it very sure-footed and makes it handle super well on turns. It just feels heavy and more luxo oriented. The V-10 motor roars whereas the 360 motor revs high and sounds more high pitched. If I had to pick a car for driving daily the Gallardo would be my choice. The F-car makes a good weekend car.
A harder comparo would be to say 360 CS vs. Gallardo SE or F430......
good luck in your choice,
rick
I have been looking for a 360 for the past few months. Now because of this thread, I am now more confused than ever.
I went to Lamborghini of Orange County and have found a late model 2004 Gallardo. If I can just be certain that this car would hold its value in the next couple of years, I think I will lean towards the Gallardo. If the depreciation is anything like my MB CL500 that I cannot give away, I will go back to the 360.

I dont think resale value is an issue.
Go for the Gallardo!!!!

LOL the lambo is the only car you can get away with when it comes to that kind of interior.
This particular car is that beautiful red ( looks burgundy )
Nice car - yes the interior is tough but it works...
I'm going through this exact same dilemma right now...I'm trying to decide between getting a 1999-2000 Ferrari 360 (in red or yellow) or a 2004-2006 Gallardo (in orange) as a "secondary" sports car (I'm keeping the TT as my "primary" sports car). I love the exotic looks of the G, but fear the 360 may be the more exciting driver. If I get the 360, I'll also have enough in my budget to get an Elise as an AutoX car.
In short, I have no idea how to make this decision...
