evo spanks carrera GT
I talked a forum member into this race here in Cleveland a couple months back and was riding shotgun. The GT35R Evo ran a 9.9 at 143 on this same C16 tune, so it's no slouch. He also got a one and a half car jump during the first race when we hit the brakes and then got back on it during a miscue. The second run was clean and the Evo got us by 3+ cars. We were granny shifting and the evo was powershifting. We left in 2nd gear in both races and went to about 140 or so. The crazy thing was that the Evo still pulled us slightly when he shifted into 5th.
I believe the Ford GT in the first race dyno'd 600+whp with a couple minor mods and we would have been dead even if we weren't chasing.
Some of the comments in this thread crack me up

Not on Buschur's Mustang dyno. His dyno reads low. He might have done a bit more on a later tune, but not much. The owner is also one of the best drag racers around....

no car lover i know would want a $30,000 car over an ~$500,000 car. i refuse to believe something like that. i love fast Evos, but they are dime a dozen nowadays...

I own a CGT and an Evo.
Evo is a great car, 4 doors, lots of boot, can drive it anywhere in any weather on any road. Its my workhorse in a far-away 3rd world country and i love it.
But comparing one to a GT
drivability, handling, experience and all other little bits that make a great car a great car are just in a different league. Its like comparing Logitech to Mark Levinson, house in Siberia to Monaco estate or any other totally ridiculous comparison you might come up with.Logitech might be made to play louder and house in siberia may be larger. WHO GIVES A ****? NO-ONE!
