evo spanks carrera GT
All that video proved was that some shop built an evo to run an 11 sec 1/4 mile. It doesn't make CGT any less of a supercar. Aren't there 9sec supra's that run around on the streets also? IMHO, overall performance is in a straightline and around a corner. The evo has AWD, but still is not hanging around a CGT in the twisties.
It was impressive, however, to see the evo out accelerate a V10 p-car.. can't be something the import tuner crowd can brag about very often.

i agree with this - the CGT owner was probably asleep when his son decided to take his car out, and race his buddies evo, all the while not really knowing how to drive the car well enough...first race shows it all
Lol. Dez I was bored and sick of getting pms from some guy telling me evos were a pos, while they are no porsche an evo is good at what it does when properly modified
I can't believe how long and heavy this discussion has gone.
I say again the C-GT should have never put itself in that position. It had nothing to gain and all to lose. If it won well sure it should but if it lost, oh my god what an embarressment.
The Evo is a great car (bang for the buck) and hats off to those that modify it in the right way where you have reliable hp.
The two cars can not be compared. They are two different animals.
Running turbo vs. NA, well that can be hard to match up.
Peace,

Another idiotic post. Try reading before posting.
Insecure and uneducated Porsche owners crack me up.

Great video. Thanks.
Marketing blabber and Wikipedia nonsense aside, the Carrera GTS has a hell of a lot more in common with the Carrera GT than anything else Porsche has ever made.
I did not see this thread until today. Anyways, fwiw, here is the view from the owner of the CGT. Just hanging out with friends one night. One of the guys owned a Ford GT with a few bolt on mods making around 600 whp. We thought it would be an interesting race since my CGT is bone stock. The owner of the evo wanted to make it a three way race (obviously because he knew what he had). On the first race, I left on the third honk and pulled instantly on both cars so I thought I had jumped the gun. That is why you see the brake lights as I thought we were going to restart. Then both cars came flying by me so I got back on the gas. After the first race, the ford turned off and was nowhere to be found as I really wanted to run the ford from a clean start as I think it would have been a very good match up. The second race with the evo was a clean start, but everybody knows what evos are capable of with a GT35R and C16 race gas. The evo is a high 9 second car which traps in the mid 140’s, but anything is possible when you start playing with any car. Anyways, it was a fun night out with the guys and next time, I will bring my evo out for a rematch!
