evo spanks carrera GT
that's very poetic, how long have you been with porsche marketing again?
the soul = yes, the essence = not as much as I would like.

Plus the fact that the Carrera GT started life as a Lemans prototype. I don't think Mitsubishi has any Lemans prototypes, although they have won some Rally's (still doesn't hold a candle to Porsche's huge race wins).
You get what you pay for...
You get what you pay for...
the sad thing about the carrera GT's birth was porsche being more concerned about putting their money into the cayenne development and almost not making it. the irony was the success of the cayenne sales that allowed the project to complete.
I am on a porsche forum, I dont get your point? The fact that it takes place on different forums doesnt make it ok..
its the internet, your point is? if people took the internet so casually there wouldnt be any need for moderation

1. You're on a Porsche forum. Which really has nothing to do with it, you just think it does. I guarantee you far worse goes on, on a Chevy Cavalier forum when they make fun of Hyundai's. Which is actually a joke because there isn't much difference between an Accent and a Cavalier.
2. It's the internet.

no not just any $30,000 car, one that is as fast as a CGT. some guys would love to have those bragging rights
As far as moderation, people need that in real life too, we call moderators in real life, "police"
Why you surprised people are one way or the other is beyond me.
i never once expressed any suprise or stated that i expected this to be any different because its a porsche forum. I dont know where you are getting that from.
i was merely stating the obvious, calling a spade a spade.. of course the internet is serious business, if it werent there wouldnt be rules and regulations guiding the usage of the internet or web forums.

My point is, there is no point. You make it sound like you expect this forum to be different because it is a Porsche forum.

would i have an evo over a porsche? no?
but the evos are absolutely great cars.
i find it kinda sad when people that consider themselves car enthusiasts slag other cars just because they're not P/F/L-cars or whatnot. Or because they're not American/European/Japanese.
this isn't exclusive to P-car owners either. I've seen Evo/Subaru/Honda owners that talk crap about P-cars just as bad.
if you truly love all things automotive, you will find something to appreciate and admire about any well designed/built/executed/driven car, regardless make or origin.
i'm never selling my porsche
i'm never selling my evo
and the next car i'm looking to buy is a honda civic hatchback, built for the circuit. (and yes, i'm pushing 40 yrs old) no ****.
flame suit on and getting off my soapbox now.
Peace and Happy New Year folks!!!
+1

Not a big deal, this is the Porsche forum anyways, I watch the same stuff about Porsche on other forums and let it slide, because I know it's the same guys with a different frame of mind. It's just how it is.
Why are so many people amused by hp numbers? That car is not meant for drag racing. How about comparing the brakes, the suspension, how fast they go around a circuit. Side note, that pinks show is just as stupid as the rednecks that are on it. Like it was said before you can make any car have over 600hp really easily. I appreciate the fact that it can be made into an inexpensive fast car. The real truth to this video and this thread is your comparing apples to potatoes. You could put that evo in the dirt correctly set up, and do the same with the GT. That would be just as funny as putting the evo on the ring against the cgt. The engineering in the Porsche is so far ahead of the majority of cars ever made, you have to give credit where credit is due. Have any of you actually seen the suspension on it in the flesh? (or in this case the carbon) It’s as close to F1 grade components on a street car as you will find. The fact that it can run over a pot hole or small bumps without breaking at speed is more impressive then BHP from a daily driver standpoint. Which car you like for whatever reasons is a very emotive choice. Bragging rights, cost aside, numbers don’t impress me. Dive both cars and compare which makes you smile more. The fact that the evo is so popular with ignorant teenagers, big mouths and egos gives it a bad wrap. The fact that the Carrera GT can really only be afforded by 1% ers, many very snobby and just as ignorant. In my eyes, the Porsche has far superior brakes, F1 grade engineering (aka autoclaved carbon), an engine that will send chills down your spine. I’m not trying to convince anyone of anything, just the facts.
Watch and learn
Let the British explain it, they are a very smart rational people. You cant deny logic!

I agree, but if you go to a Evo forum and post, civic spanks an evo, you'd get the same stuff. So dont act like the Porsche guys are all wrong because if you take a cheaper car to any board and put "spanks" "destroys" "kills" etc by a lesser car (in stock form) it's going to spark some flames.
I was reacting more to behaviors I've seen from people who consider themselves hardcore car guys, and yet are myopic in their inability (or refusal) to appreciate what other people/manufacturers have achieved.
Its no mean feat to make a street driven econobox outaccelerate a car like the CGT (especially when you consider that the econobox owner probably doesn't have the bank account of the Porsche owner); its impressive when Audi hits one out of the park, at their very first attempt at a supercar, just as its incredible that Nissan seem to have taken the fight straight to the Porsche Turbo, for a much lower price. On the flipside, the 911 remains the quintessential best triathlete/all-rounder sports car, and is still the gold standard.
Different strokes for different folks, but there are some pretty amazing things that other people are doing. That's all really
