I had the car at Pocono this weekend running the reverse imsa course (where big hp is the key)...and I couldnt BELIEVE how well this car faired against nearly every car there...oh ya...it was a ferrari lambo event with god knows HOW many gallardos (superlaggeras), challenge cars, high hp panteras and other cars far out of the gt3s league speed wise...and on just cup sports, some pagid yellows and those brake lines...unless it was a 360 challenge driven by a real wheeler or the superlaggera driven by a factory driver...I could dice with it. AND...I passed a CCX...ok, guy wasnt a driver...but its not like I get the chance very often to do so! COBALT represent!

to 997gt3north...how badly DO you want a 996 gt3...lol.

I was at Le Belle Macchine, too (just spectating). I saw your car.. it looked good. The straight pipes sound deep and loud.

Yeah, a couple of the Gallardo SL's and that anthracite LP560 were running hard, sounded great, too. Did you see the black SL do a burn out in the pit lane? Two seconds later the guy over the intercom said bring him in for a talking to.. hehe.

I was hoping the black Scuderia would go out on the track, but it never did (at least I never saw it, but I left at 2:30).

Saw the white 997 GT3, too. How was he doing out there? It didn't seem like he was really pushing it.

Also caught my eye.. the guy in the white 355 Challenge was tearing the track up all day. He was flying.

The Bella event is very interesting as it brings drivers with very different levels of ability and interest of tracking together. The guy in the 997 wasnt cooking like some, but he wasnt slow either. He asked if I could take him out in the 996 but I couldnt get to him in time...so I think he wanted to push more, but valued his car enough to not take the chance on his own. This is how many people are at the event and this is quite understandable...

The people who were REALLY moving on saturday were the guy in the number 32 355 challenge car, both the NA yellow f355 challenge cars, both the red and the yellow(actually two of them) 360 challenge cars and one superlaggera in particular...those are the ones that really caught my eye.

As for the Scud, my friend was driving that car but its not actually his, is a good friend/business aquaintence...Im not surprised he didnt take it out.

yes, I managed...haha...and as for how rides went, talk to Dave, Jon and Joe...I hooked them up with 167 mph...the fastest factory lambo only hit a purported 172 mph...only 5 more mph with over 150 more hp (weight doesnt play at those speeds...just aero and power)

have you run that same config. with the turbo? how did your times compare in the 3?

even though we know the basic differences, we need a detailed one in your opinion at some point

Drew,

I'm thinking of moving from a 996Turbo to possibly a GT3 or a 997 Turbo.

Is their any part of your 996Turbo that you miss in your GT3? i.e. high torque or horsepower, AWD, etc...

Thanks a lot.

Dan

The only thing the gt3 doesnt have that the turbo does is tons of torque for getting out of slow, tight corners...that said, the lessened weight means that you can just carry more speed INTO the corner and in the end carry more speed out. The gt3 is a simply magnificent platform and honestly, still surprises me just HOW much fun it is. However, the car is DEFINITELY harder to drive at the limit and if your driving the car RIGHT, isnt exactly the most sure feeling car out there...but thats what makes the car soooo much fun to wheel. Oh ya...and the gt3 has something I like to call...a "climax soundtrack" aka my nickname for her...da screamer!
