goodbye to my gt3

my 07 gt3 was picked up by transporter for its trip to new owner, ruf of dallas, tx. they bought my lease out from porsche financial services a month early and they are getting a 20k mi, no stories car.

i will miss it, esp at 8500 rpm, and briefly thought about a porsche replacement but decided i could get a 2012 gtr AND a 1971 jaguar xke roadster for the same as one new porsche. the jag is here now and the gtr in week or so.

You know, PFS has a deal where they will write off the last yr of your lease, if you lease another 911. It expires 6/30, you just have to be within 12 mos of lease termination by 6/30.

Pfs never told me about that and i dont really understand. my lease was almost 2k/month so they would discount a new one $24k? Or i just could have gotten out of lease yr early? Interesting promotion but i prob still would have done gtr/jag instead

Sorry to hear about the GT3, but sounds like you have some good new toys to take its place.

yeah the 2k/month lease looks bad now because the car was in great shape and sold easily. in 07, i was afraid of problems since it was used for track days and then im stuck with a car no one wants. probably wasted $20k vs buying and selling but i did have peace of mind. i will probably do same thing with gtr and lease it vs buy.

Congrats on the new cars - one thing I've learned is never beat yourself up over the cost of sports cars - just get the best price you can at the time when buying/selling and try to keep them in good condition so nobody gets your lemon.

There are people out there with real problems, haha.

Basically, yes they discount the new one 24k. Remember in a lease buyout, you have to pay all the remaining payments, here they write that off, basically eating one year of payments. If you look at it that way, you'd save 24k it would cost you to jump from your present lease early without penalty.
Yes, interesting promotion, they clearly know their demographic. Very few porsche owners move down to a lesser model, most go up the ladder...higher payments.

wonder if the promo works on newly ordered 991 series cars? i would guess its a way to unload the remaining 997's prior to sept launch 991

I doubt it, I believe the car has to be in inventory by the end of June.
My issue would be that I hate taking a dealer specced car.
