BBI Side Muffler Bypass for GT3/RS
Last time I visited California, I decided to check out BBI as I have been hearing more and more about them online. Their side muffler bypass pipes had also captured my attention as they remove a big mass from the rear end of the car. So I called Betim and said I would come to visit if I can arrange it. I arrive at the facilities without an appointment and Betim still takes an hour from his busy Friday to show me all the projects, the facilities and the engine projects. Let me tell you the engine components looked beautiful, especially the crankshaft. While chatting I learned that he also worked for Porsche Motorsport for years, a wealth of information right there.
He showed me how the side bypass pipes are made, everything is made in house custom by the way, also showed me the dyno charts (no power loss throughout the power band, not even on the low end) and I was sold. The weight savings compared to stock is 40 lbs., OEM side mufflers are 22 lbs. each and the BBI bypass pipes are 2 lbs. each. Compared to my SW center bypass I still saved 24 lbs. When the pipes arrived I was actually overseas, so I did not get a chance to see them individually unfortunately; but from underneath the car they do look great and come with the block-off plates for the top hole on the center mufflers.
The installation also included Light Weight RS Flywheel so it was really difficult to differentiate the performance gains with this system. My prior set up was Sharkwerks center muffler bypass with valves open, beautiful sound by the way for people that don’t know. There was no loss, but gain for sure in the low end. As said earlier, it is still really hard to know which part exactly contributed but I sure am glad the car is pulling stronger. The sound is crazy to say the least, it is LOUD. Compared to SW bypass it is definitely louder, too much for any person driving their GT3 every day. On occasional DD duties, it is livable. The car sounds much deeper at idle, more like a cup car.
In the end, am I happy with the purchase? Yes, but I still occasionally wish my car was a little quieter

I still have the OEM Headers/Cats
There is drone from 2,500-2,800 RPMs, but nothing major. It is still irritating though. I had droning with SW center bypass with the valves open as well. This setup's drone is more noticeable.
No, I currently have the stock center muffler on the car. What you're saying is basically straight pipes off the cats, which would be crazy (no offense
). It would be unbearably loud!
