More Wheel Incident Stuff
A GT3 track driving friend wrote in a mail:
>>HHE's aren't the only ones having trouble. At a track event last weekend a fellow GT-3 driver had a Fikse come apart. The wheel hub and short stubs of the spokes remained on the car while the rim and tire rolled out into the desert. Subsequent inspection showed the other rear wheel with similar cracks. A second GT-3 driver discovered he also had cracks on the rear Fikse wheels. A third GT-3 driver found 1/3 to 1/2 of the bolts holding the rim to the spokes and hub had sheared off. The first two were powder coated and the third was not.

I e-mailed the owner. Fortunately he wasn't injured.
It turns out that the wheels powder coating wasn't right the first time it was done, it was heated up and removed, then powder coated again. This process may have damaged the integrity of the wheel. The manufacturer is testing it to see what went wrong and I believe is picking up the tab for repairs to the car. Nice to see them step up and do the right thing, it says a lot about a company.
