2004 GT3 Differential Noise Turning in Reverse - Help!!

I am in the process of purchasing a 2004 GT3 that has never been tracked and has about 22,000 miles on it and is going through a PPI. These cars are not at all common in Canada, and I am worried that the "noise" the Porsche dealer hears is normal based on their lack of experience with these cars. Does anyone have experience with the LSD making some noise when doing slow turns in reverse?

As a comparison, anyone not familiar with a Nissan GT-R at low speed might assume that the entire transaxle might need repair given the noise at low speed.

I own a 997 Turbo and Boxster, but have absolutely no experience with a GT3 so any help would be appreciated.

This is VERY common. It is working fine. If it was quiet and not making noise, you would have No working diff.

You'd be worried if you didn't hear it.

Normal....... In the parking lot, go to full lock left, move the car forward a bit, you should hear the diff and feel the tires in the back "chugging". Repeat with the wheel locked to the right.

If you hear noises and feel the tires "chugging" then the diff is operating normal. As mentioned, if you don't hear anything then there is something wrong.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I have also spoken to Matt, who was very helpful. Now I will just have to see what the Porsche dealer doing the PPI says!

Also, to add, I am not sure the presence of the turning noise itself is an indicator that the diff is working optimally. Std 6GT3 LSDs are fairly weak and could be worn by 22,000 miles depending on how the car has been used. It is not the end of the world, but you could still have an open diff.
Motorsport or cup diff plates give a more robust solution.

We had the LSD torque tested today and it came back at 2 lbft and Porsche in Canada said the acceptable range is 3 to 11. On this basis we have sent the LSD to Guard for rebuilding.

The car seems to only show noise when turning, but it is loudest when turning in reverse. Matt at Guard and others thought it was unlikely to be anything other than the LSD (if the spider gear and ring gear looked good) if the car made no noise other than turning.
