Looking for new ones... Thoughts on Bridgestone RE 11s vs Michelin pilots

Thanks for the input

Michelin PSS (Pilot Super Sport) is what people seem to like the most (see under "reviews" on TireRack). More advanced compound than RE-11 and cheaper, too. PSS can also handle a few track days now and then.

like above poster said, pilot super sports are the way to go. Best all around tire IMO and they will hold up on track too. I see you live in great falls, do you have an RS? make it out to any local track days?

Summit point WV is about an hour and a half away. Great local place to see if you like the sport.

I liked Re-11s on a previous vehicle owned. Tread may not be as "advanced" but it's softer than PSS. Ive also ran PSS but, again, not on a P car (GTR). Great street tire in rain and DD traction. If $$$$ were not an issue, Corsa or Trofeo R FTW

I got a free set of Falken-Ohtsu FK453's and they are better than I would have ever expected them to be.. Stuck them on my extra wheels and went out to thrash... Really pretty good tires.

My corsa's are done on my stock wheels. Gotta replace them soonest!

If you aren't out in the rain and cold all the time, check out the Hankook RS3s.

Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I have them on my turbo and absolutely love them. They grip really well, have predictable breakaway characteristics, work extremely well in the rain. However, on or below 40F you need to be a bit cautious. Overall I like them more than the RE-11 on a Porsche.

I have done three full track days and about 5K of spirited driving on the roads and the threads look almost brand new.

Good luck and let us know what you end up going with.

HATED the RE-11's. They were a bit numb and heavy as hell. Have since moved to the RS3's and think they are by far the best track friendly street tires made.

Alway's trust Bibendum.. He will never let you down.!!! (Michelin is a no brainer) Just got a set of PSS, took bridgestone's off at 7500 miles, that tire burning smell is finally gone!!! Bridgestones stink like burnt rubber all the time, the Michelin PSS do not! You are alway's riding with Bibendum, his mug is on all 4 tire's. How cool is that?

Agreed, the SS are very good street tires, and decent track tires.
