08 GT3RS Confirmation...

Can anyone provide me with documetation confirming the 08 GT3RS? My dealer will give me the first slot for an 08, but they can't get confirmation there will be an 08 (though they do believe me and have heard the rumor, they won't take my deposit unless they know they can get me one).
I have a feeling its all rumors right now and no one has anything, but its worth a shot!
Thanks,
Evan

Right now, there is no RS for 08, a GT3 maybe, but no RS.

If there are buyers .. there will be cars...We have travelled down this road before...Porsche is in for Porfit, as we see they are very good at it.

Count on an 08 RS.

My dealer took my deposit for first on the list for an 08. They said for a long time there will not be an 08 RS....but now they've said they can neither confirm nor deny. So if it's no, why wouldn't they just say no. I'm holding out until it's official and if there isn't one, I'll get a GT3....either way, I'll be super happy.

Porsche has to re-tool August 08 for the new model.
I think the 229 cars allocated for North America, include both 07 and 08 models.
The total remains 229 spread over 2 model years.

The dealers are holding out b/c they are hoping they guys who are putting deposits on "ghost" 2008 RS's will concede to buying a 2008 GT3.

The 229 cars are 2007's that have already been allocated. Any additional cars will be model year 2008. There will be no change in the car for 2008.

GT3racerich,

Do you have confirmation then that there will be an 08? If so, since I'm next on the list for a car, what time this year do you think it would need to be spec'd out?

I do not have conformation that there will be a 2008 RS. I was speaking to someone that has helped me in the past at PCNA. The feeling is that there will be additional cars made, if so they will be model year 2008. It is interesting to note that while he could not tell me for sure that there will be an 08 RS, he could tell me for sure that if there is an 08, there will be no change in the car.

The fact that this PCNA person says there will be no changes to an 08 RS if there is one says nothing about the validity of the statement.

For example, the PCNA spec sheets at the Detroit Autoshow spec the US GT3RS with a carbon front hood and rear decklid and wing. Obviously that info is wrong, since the statement from Porsche on Dec 22 about the front boot being aluminum and NOT carbon was issued.

The spec sheet even had the name and phone number of the person at PCNA who made the spec sheet.

Moral of the story: Just because you speak to someone at PCNA doesn't mean he's going to have the right information.

Just providing some first hand information from someone I trust. Not: I heard from a guy who heard, or, I heard a rumor that? Take it for what it is worth.
