997 GT3 Finally Home
997 GT3 Finally Home
After much anticipation, my 997 GT3 finally came into the dealer this week. The time to arrival to the dealer after production date was quicker than I could have ever imagined. On March 7th my car was completed and by March 27th it had arrived at my dealer in Princeton. I still can't believe that the car got from the factory, to the boat, accross the Atlantic, to the port in Maryland, on a transport truck, and to my dealer in this short amount of time. Anyway, during the waiting process I went through multiple thoughts of changing the color and various options. In the end, the white is very stricking in person. The ride home was amazing. I found the transmission to be very precise and tight and the PASM gave a better ride than my C4S sport suspension. The regular seats are very comfortable - I feel bad that next week I'm taking them out for track season. The ultimate is the sound track coming from the exhaust. My neighbors all came out to see what had just landed on their street.

Thanks everyone. I'm having trouble posting pics - I think that the file size is too large - Advice?
Anyway, I drove the car in the rain today - what a joy!. It outhandles my '04 C4S in many ways in the wet weather. The rear step out is very predictable and controllable. The only issue in the wet is staight line hydroplaning which will be an issue over 65mph.
The PASM is vastly more compliant/comfortable than on a regular 997. The shifter is like butter - very precise and smooth. For those on the fence with a potential order - I can probably answer some of your questions in terms of options. Leather for example: I initially had it added to my order and then removed. The standard material for the intrument panel and doors are very high class and functional. Doesn't look or feel cheap at all.
The standard seats are comfortable and very supportive. Holds you while driving like a glove. Great side bolsters. Porsche finally got it right. Unfortunately, I will be removing the seats shortly for track season, but will definitely re-install for fall and winter. And yes, I will certainly drive the car daily - even in winter. I grew up in New England and with the right tires (proper snows) any car can be driven in the snow (except vipers and vettes).
