G Spyder to LP640 Roadster
G Spyder to LP640 Roadster
My Father is thinking about trading his g up for a murcie roadster. I just wanted to know everyones opinion on the pros and cons of the murcie compared to the g. The big difference for him will be going from 6 speed to e-gear.
I recently had a customer switch from a G to an LP. He used to drive the G with one hand, now he has to drive the LP with 2. He thinks that the ride / feel of the LP is much more refined. The exhaust is louder on the G. The LP is lower and wider. It doesn't have a back up camera, electric seats or garage door openers from the factory. As far as e-gear goes, I get a lot of guys that have always driven 6 spd sports cars move into e-gear and absolutely love it. It takes some getting used to though. After a few hours he should get the hang of it. Service does increase significantly. 15k mile service is an engine out job. We charge $15k for it and I think it takes about a week.
The LP has a lot more road presence, and obviously it's a good deal faster and more of an experience to drive. The downside is having to lift the nose over things every five minutes, and the car pretty much sucks in traffic, especially with e-gear.
The G is a lot more friendly in town, carving through tight country back roads, and is generally more confidence inspiring to drive fast. It gives a reasonable amount of feedback, much more than the Murc.
So, it depends what he uses it for. Personally, I prefer the Murc/LP for highway cruises, and the G for sliding around on back roads and zipping around in traffic.
In both cases, I can't stand e-gear, though that comes down to how much traffic he intends to drive the car in, and how involved he wants to be in the driving experience.

It appears he has worked a trade for the blue roadster that was in detroit. I will post an update when the deal is finalized tomorrow.

I think the only big difference (negatively) will be the maintenence costs. Other than that I really dont't see why he wouldn't enjoy the more powerul, flamboyant, astonishing bigger bull.
