Lambo Delivery Mileage...Why Does it Vary So Much?

Having been shopping for a Gallardo SL for the last few weeks, many are listed as "Brand New" with only 5-10 miles while others are listed as "Brand New" with up to 75. Why is this?

One of the sales people suggested that the mileage is this high because of "testing" done at the factory. Any truth in this statement?

He also said that cars with low mileage (under 25) would almost certainly have problems due to them not being tested. I called BS, but you guys let me know.

Total BS in many respects... certainly have problems? C'mon now - the mileages varies due to testing, but a brand new car should'nt have 75 miles that's not testing by the factory, that's testing by clients at that point

Most manufacturers that "test" cars do so without it counting on the odo. Any salesman that tells you otherwise is flat-out lying. Most vehicles will accumulate a few, i.e. less than 10, in getting off/on carrier, gassing up, moved from storage to showroom, etc. Anything greater than 10 has been test-driven.

I have never seen 0 miles on a car before, and working at a dealership, I´ve seen a LOT of cars. They must have resetted it... But from what mileage...

I recently visited the Lambo factory and the person giving the tour said many of the cars will be driven up to 50 miles on a test run. This is the similar to Ferraris. Go figure.

50+ miles is a bit extreme on a brand new car especially for a high end exotic.

When I went to the Ferrari factory, they said up to 50km could be put on before the odometer is actually set. As soon as they come off the line, test drivers drive them around the factory roads and then take them in the mountains outside of Maranello. But after it reads 0, the factory is not doing anything more with that car.
