2008 ML550: Experience?

Anybody driven a new ML550? Or even an ML500? How is it?
I was never a fan of the old M class, but the new one is pretty hot.
Especially with the AMG kit on the 550. And the new 550 engine has more power than the old 55 AMG engine, so it should be a pretty solid car.

MSRP range from $56-65K it seems.

Anybody lease one? What are the terms?
Other impressions? I like it a lot more than X5...

I've driven a new 2008 ML500 numerous times, and it is great (imo). Go and take a test drive, and find out for yourself

I work at a MB dealer. Just delivered a ML550 yesterday to its new owner. White with Blk interior. Looks great with the AMG sport package and drives great. Go test drive one. Plenty of power too.

Awesome. Yeah, I'll try to test it out in a few weeks. Too busy now.

Can you PM me rough lease terms on a $64K truck?

Thanks!

drove it a while ago, its pretty fast for an suv and 388hp is not bad for its price tag.

Yeah, the new X5 is kinda weak. The 4.8 is nice, but overpriced IMO and more common.

I got first quotes from a dealership. $64K MSRP.
30 month (best term), 12k/year, 0 down, $914/mo + tax.

I'll try to get it at $800/mo including tax.

Can't go wrong with a ML550 in white/black interior!

The 388 hp ain't shabby either and probably much more fuel efficient that the old ML55. (my roomie had one he was always swearing how often he has to refuel the truck...haha)

If I could only own one car that can do everything it would be the ML63 or the Cayenne Turbo that's for sure!

But for now I'm going to stick with my workhorse ML320 - at least don't have to worry about someone stealing it or denting it. Just hit 117k last week and still running strong

I'm looking at a GL450 and I guess I should consider the ML550.
Any thoughts on the GL450?

The GL550 is out, the 450 is slow and plus the 550 has the revised front bumper and 21" inch wheels that just scream "sporty suv".

I have a ML350 lowered and sitting on 20s. It's not as quick as a 550, but plenty fast for every day driving. I test drove a RR Sport (used to have a RR) and it felt like a pig compared to my ML. It drives pretty much like an E-class sedan. The new ML550s are very nice.

I think the power in the 350 is plenty not to mention the **** mpg's it gets for a v6.

Any pics of your modded ML350 yo can post for us? I'd luv to see it

MeanMachine: The GL550 is super nice for sure no question but it's MSRP is closer to $80k ~ouch!

GL = 7 pass. seating in comfort and larger SUV

ML = 5 pass. seating and perfect SUV if you don't need the extra cargo/people space

my 2 cents,
rick

My Aunt and my Grandma both have them and they are pretty nice cars. I have only driven my grandmas a handful of times but its a very nice truck. The new MLs are closer to the E class in quality, where I would say the old ones were closer to the C class. My Grandma has had every ML generation and refuses to get anything else including CTT, RR, X5, Lexus, she loves hers
