Today at Fair Lakes, we had the weather we'd all been waiting for, and the crowds came out! The first picture is of the lot at 8:24AM, and quite a few more cars arrived after this shot was taken.

Fair Lakes, 04/13/14 - Part 2
More from today...
Does anybody else remember when Saturns first came out, and GM displayed the frames, with the removable plastic panels off? It seemed like a cool idea at the time, but doesn't look very cool when the panels break in an accident. (Yes, this is a Lotus owner calling into question the wisdom of a plastic car...)

What a showing! Easter Sunday, and more people than I dreamed of were there. FOW brought out an F12 Berlinetta. Having read about this model, I was fascinated to look at the various aerodynamic bits. We were also fortunate to have an F550 there to compare two models, 15 years apart. I looked up specs, and here's the difference 15 years make:
F550
5.5L V12 (87hp/liter)
479hp
VMax 199mph
0-60 4.3 sec
F12
6.3L V12 (115hp/liter)
730hp
VMax 211mph
0-60 3.1 sec
Some things I find fascinating - all that extra power, and all the aerodynamics only result in 12 more mph, top-end. I know that it requires massive HP to increase top speed, and this shows that. (Gear ratios may also play into this.) Also, note that the 550 has a nice air scoop on the hood. The F12 manages the air over, under and around the hood. The F12's rear diffuser is immense and complex. Very cool!

Another huge turnout today. I was preoccupied with a Jaguar event I hosted, along the edge of the lot. Here are the few pictures I got of non-Jaguars today. (I'm sure someone else will pick up the slack...)
I never did find out who brought the blue Evora...

We had 36 Jaguars show up for our 'side show' today. Lots of XKE's, and a really good representation of other models, including new F-Types. I think everyone appreciated the XJ220 that came out!
