You guys were right about corvettes

Long story short. I see this Red Z06 sitting at Bill Pierre off of Lake City, so I pull in to check it out, just to sit in it and see what all the hype is about. I had no intention of driving it, but they threw me the keys ( ).

1st, 2nd, 3rd gear wheel spin. Traction control was obnoxious, the interior wasn't conforming and I was always under the impression that vettes were made for portly redneck's...wrong, they aren't made for anyone, the seats are just BLAH.

The engine was amazing, Sideways when turning on to streets, getting squirley on onramps, it was fun. But no where near even being a contender for replacing the little M3 that could.

Someone had OBVIOUSLY trashed that car prior to me getting into it though, the tires were worn in a fashion that suggests they were doing a bunch of burnouts and doughnuts and stopping HARD from 120+ (could look at the rotors and see that). The salesman when he pulled it out of the lot for me was spinning it hard into second.

The cars definitely look cooler than they are.

There are just way too many cheap plastic component for my taste, otherwise it is a pretty good car for the money.

Not my liking, but you can't usually go wrong with the price they have. Its more for people who want a sports car and just don't want to care for it.

I told ya man. No fit and finish to it. I like the exterior looks and the performance but nothing else.

Lol, look who you're talking to. My car is the king of being held together by plastic components. The interior on my car is completely under-engineered.

In all fairness. I liked the driver orientation of the car, I just like my shifter much lower than chest height.

I couldn't truly give it an unbiased opinion until I've driven it for a summer month, that way it would have suspension and better tires (these were basically bald POS's), so the car didn't get a fair shake at "The Mitchel Cup".

Straight line was pretty damn impressive though.

The salesman was there for a year and didn't have any business cards "They're still being printed" so he wrote his info down on a piece of a credit app.

with those tires, it felt like my car in the rain when the roads were perfectly dry for it.

I had a C4 Corvette long ago and after that experience I swore I'd never buy another one again. The new Z06 isn't any improvement from what I've seen but it's really hard to argue with the money to power ratio you'd get out of those cars. Although the newest GT-R from Nissan makes that argument even harder.

corvettes have never done it for me... of course I have seen them at the track and the price to power ratio is great... but part of me still thinks I need to rock the gold chains, no socks and a mullet to properly "get my vette on"

There is no denying what they can do etc -- great value etc...

I hope that this does not sound snobbish... actually I could care less..

Vettes just aren't my bag baby...

The C4 to the C5 was a huge jump. The C5 to the C6 is more like a C5.5

Although, the new interior on the 2008's, expecially with the 3LZ option is a huge improvement.

I love my Corvette and think they're a great car, but everyone is entitled to an opinion!

If I had the $ I'd have a Ferarri in my stable as well!

The interior kills it, if I had no choice but a C5 Z06, the whole interior would be out of it before I even filled up the gas tank.

To each their own. If I had a few thousand to spare I'd probably upgrade the interior as well. I rather put it towards performance mods, tires, brakes, etc..

There are a few mfg that make some excellent aftermarket interiors

Plastic aside, ***-tastic seats (my biggest complaint). I bought an 07 Z06 for my wife... (she never really enjoyed it because she doesnt' enjoy stick (it stresses her out), hence the orange turbo). This car was fast, fast, and fast... when it's no 35-45 outside it hooks up... scrap the run-flats and it really hooks up... even when it doesn't hook up its fast... and the handling is amazing... it doesn't really feel amazing while it's handling, but the handling it can perform is infact amazing, it's glued... Only recently with my new suspension was I able to beat my Union Hill twisties speed record that I set in the Z06 with my Turbo. You could keep pushing the Z06 and it would just do it, even if it didn't feel it did.

I've had 6 911's, and 2 Z06's now... I could see ending up with another Z06 someday, they are fun and fast, and the fit and finish is much better than the last varient. Do they ever need to fix those seats though.

Did you check out the 3LT option? That may push you to trade the '07 for an '08
