Need Advice and Opinions
Hi guys, I'm new to this forum, and have been interested in cars since I was a little kid. I've been on other forums. Aside from that I moved up from Southern California for a couple years, and really like Seattle. Probably not the rain, but overall the environment is just wonderful. Summers here are just right!
Well, anyways I have been driving an Lexus RX400h as a daily driver, and have thought about switching it up a little. I want a more sportier and a smaller daily driver. I know it's up here in the Northwest and far different from weather conditions I was used to down in SoCal, and the RX seems very practical. But, I have been torn between making decisions on the Porsche Boxster or Porsche Cayman. My question is, which one would you guys buy? Please let me know what your guys' thoughts are, any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

New or used? "S" or normal?
Either way, I suggest you drive both, & pick the one you like best. Really they are the same cars, just one has a roof, & the other is a cabrio.
For dealers, I sugest you stay away from Larson, as they are thieves, & hard to deal with. If you want used be careful of Park Place, get a PPI done on any car you are interested in.

Hi, thanks for your reply!
I prefer new, but I could get an used one also. I personally don't have a preference whether it's S or Normal, as I'm not familiar with them, and it's a daily driver. But, it seems like the specs on the S is a lot more tempting.
Thank you for the heads up! Seems like people have had bad experience with Larson then, and also Park Place.

If I had the coin, I would get a Cayman S with some goodies. For a DD, the PDK trans might be for you.
Go to Porsches web page & build one up, you get it to $100,000 if not careful. Options you WANT PASM, PDK, Sport Crono.

Wow, I never knew that!!!
hahaha....I guess I need to restrain myself from wanting too much, unless I want to upgrade to a 911 right away.
Thanks for the advices guys!! I appreciate it!

Boxster vs Cayman - depends on if you are a convertible guy or not. Daily drive is similar as stated before. We have a Cayenne TT for winter and Boxster for summer. Let me qualify that - we have the boxster for any day that is not raining hard and is above 45F.
Heated seats are a must.
Want to forget everything that just happened at work - as soon as you drop the top it all blows away.
Want to enjoy just cruising around town - drop the top and see more than you have.
Like to hear your engine - drop the top and downshift through the tunnels and overpasses.
We have had a number of convertibles living in the PCNW and love the fresh air. My wife loves the topless action as long as she has a hat/hairband so no worries there.
Difference btwn the S and not - depends on what kind of driver you are. If you like a spirited drive, then the S is a good start, dont even drive one unless you are sure as there is a big difference in performance and you really cannot go back...

I want to live in a Porsche commercial! No traffic. My girlfriend is beautiful and never complains. 75 degrees, blue skies with a slight breeze. Hans Stuck and me are like,,, this!
I need a cup of Pike Roast.

I'm just not sure whether I should just take the cayman for the reason I'm going to drive it everyday unless a huge snow hits us. How's the cabin noise in the boxster?
Hahahaha.....

And before I knew that was there, I always wondered how Porsche's, Audi's, Merc's were clean in Bellevue on the worst of the rainy days.

Now that's what I'm talking about!!! lol...
A quick question, if purchase a USED P-car, what's something I should look out for? I'm still going to be doing a PPI if I do decide to purchase a USED. Because I have laid eyes on a really nice one that I'm drooling over for. I know about the HPFP(High Pressure Fuel Pump) issue. Anything else I should beware? Thanks again guys, I appreciate all your guys' feedback and help!
I'm not sure if I can advertise here, but we recently got an 05 boxster tiptronic and it's priced quite low for a nice convertible. You may pm me or call me at 206-390-4134 for details.
Man those are nice!!!!
Nice, I want to send you a PM, but I don't have enough post count lol...
Maybe I'll call you, or can you text?
