My XKR

So my friend and his buddy wanted to make a Coke commercial over the summer and wanted to use my XKR and SL65 in their commercial. I had nothing to do with the vid except supply the 2 cars. BTW...the car at the end is "ZX1100" Viper.

Here's the final cut:

Here was their trailer earlier:

Plecos just curious how do you like your XKR performance and handling wise ? I ask becuase I have always loved the looks of it and reminds me so much of the Astons but yet you rarely see them on the road especially the coupes. We have alot of soccer moms with the convertible base model but the R in the coupe is a bit rare.

Sleepy996: I haven't AutoX the car but when I first bought my XKR in '08 the suspension felt alittle soft for my liking. After installing lowering springs it's alittle better. In 2010....they added a feature called Dynamic Mode in which you can press a button on the center consol for optimal handling (similar to ABC on my SL65....actually probably closer to my W211 with Sport I/II) athough I haven't test drove a 2010+. The '07-'09 doesn't have that option. As far as power....mine again was underpowered (420HP). At that time I didn't know the 510HP was coming in '10. I tried to bump up the horsepower with upper and lower Supercharger pulleys, hiflo cats, air induction kit, exhaust and ECU tune. It's faster but still not close to my SL65 stock. With added power comes more heat soak to the supercharger which robbs power. I think similar with the E55 guys. If you're looking for a better handling and powerful XKR.....difinitely go for the 2010+. Just remember it's a big car (almost as long as my W211) and somewhat heavy. It's actually not too bad for the size at around 3,800 lbs. Also remember it's a grand tourer. For even more power and handling....you can go with the 2012 XKR-S with 550HP.

Plecos I appreciate the honest review and you are the first person I have had a chance to speak to that actually owns a nicely modded XKR. I may be bothering you in the future with more questions if you don't mind.

Hello all!!

I have a 2011 XKR Cabriolet in Liquid Silver. I really love my car - the styling, the performance (it's crazy fast) - everything is great. I just really miss driving a manual transmission car. My last car was an Audi RS4 2008 Cabriolet and that one was a beast!

Is anyone here familiar with or has recommendations regarding the transition from manual transmission to paddle shifting? Most of time time I find that it's just easier to put the car in Drive or Sport/Dynamic mode but it's just not the same experience as driving a 6 speed manual. I'm going to have the Jag for 4 years so I would love to get some advice on how to make my drives a little more engaging.

Thanks!
Sandy

I drove the 2012 XKR Cab. and really liked it. The power was there and the looks were dead sexy. The wind buffeting with the top down was better than the Merc SL550 and quite a bit faster. I favored Jag over the Porsche S due to a more luxurious ride and I would have bought the car had I not drove a 07 Bentley GTC.

No rag on the XKR at all I think it is a super car. Nice pics.
