The "NEW" Hyundai...

Friend of mine showed me the brochure for the New Genesis Coupe... I was floored at how good this car looks... So I went and saw one at the local dealer who just so happened to have a 3.8L. track option example in "Silverstone"...

http://www.hyundaiusa.com/vehicle/Ge...r/feature.aspx
http://www.hyundaiusa.com/vehicle/Ge.../interior.aspx

Now I drive a 996TT and love it because it is so heavily modded and does everything so well. I'm a big stickler for quality of materials, fit of body panels, seams and gaps, paint finish, and interior design and layout... I was FLOORED when I sat in this new "Hyundai". The interior is well thought out and the materials used are easily on par with my interior. Granted, I'm comparing an 8 year old car's interior, but that car cost $135K when new. This "Hyundai" retails for LESS THAN $30K with all options. The exterior, with the rear wing, and the rear cowl/difuser styling looks very nice and the angles of the car are very pleasing, to me at least... I can't get over the look of this particular car. Brembos stuffed behind 19 inch alloys, and an aggressive look that screams LOOK AT ME!

Only complaint was the ride height. One of these lowered about an inch and with tinted windows would make an excellent daily driver and would surely be a hoot to drive. But, a HYUNDAI? YES, a Hyundai... Check one out if you haven't already, and do NOT go by the website or pics in magazines... They simply don't do it justice. See one in person and you'll know what I'm talking about...

Nice looking coupes but it comes up short vs some of the competition. Check out this MT article of it vs the Mustang GT and 370z. It also came up a bit short vs the g37, 135 as well. Great looking coupe for the money though. Fully loaded for fully loaded the Z, 135 and Mustang are about 3-20k+ more then the Gen coupe.

Looks nice but looks to be an Infiniti G coupe competitor. Hyundai has come a long way and I am really surprised how much momentum they've gained in the last couple of years. Definitely a force to be reckoned with in the auto industry.

I saw/sat in one at the autoshow yeaterday, it felt cheap to me. It looked ok for a Hyundai though.

I'm not too sure on American pricing, but looking at a direct $ conversion from USD to AUD with regards to the Hyundai (as the vehicle isn't sold here, we have to price to work off), and looking at the current pricing of some of those cars you are comparing it with within our market, it is by no means a fair comparison. The 350z, and now 370z market for around $60,000, the Mustang for over $100,000, and the BMW 135 for around $75,000 - AND THESE PRICES ARE BASE MODELS. This compared with the Hyundai at under US$30,000 fully optioned, which comes to AU$43,500ish.

Obviously US pricing will differ, and the Mustang being a USDM vehicle will be considerably cheaper, but I can't see how your comparison is fair?? The BMW is a prestige car, the Mustang a V8 etc.

I for one am a big fan of Hyundai specifically the new genesis. IMO the best car for money. And for Hyundai to step to the plate with a warranty that is unmatched by anyone makes a SERIOUS statement about the confidence they hold in their product. They are soo confident that they are willing to cover any issues that you have for 10 YEARS/ 100K MILES!!!!

Why doesn’t Benz or any of these other guys who talk about the supposed quality of their vehicles and certainly charge you for it make a similar statement?? Its because they cannot! If Mercedes attempted the to provide the warranty that Hyundai has, they would literally go bankrupt with all the service claims that they would be forced to eat over the next decade.

Having owned everything from Buicks, to BMWs to Bentleys...I think I can safely say I know a thing or two about quality made vehicles and irregardless of price, the new Hyundai Genesis and Hyundaies period are a H*LL of car!!

I would love someone to show me $40k worth of difference between the Genesis sedan and say a BMW 550i. I'll be waiting and you can save any of that "its a Hyundai crap".
Hyundai is what Toyota USED to be.

I test drove the 4.6 V8 sedan in FLA. I will tell you this, it is very roomy, especially rear leg room, and drives very smooth. It doesnt have a cheap plastic feel nor road noise as well. Loved it, and for the price you can NOT beat it. Might be my new daily.

I gotta admit that they look pretty good.. but for about 4gs more I'd take the base 370Z.

They should "look" good, Hyundai pretty much bases all their cars off other company's designs lol

ex. The Genesis sedan looks pretty much the same as a Benz! ha

More to the story than just that drag race video clip...

One of my employees has a 350Z and if the 370Z is of the same build quality, f'that... The thing is plastic bits and doesn't wear well... Over the 6 years she's had this car it's gone from so so to not so... Plastic wears poorly, and the car has developed squeeks, rattles, and buzzes...
