It wasn't as bad or intrusive as I thought.
It's a little freaky having the engine cut out and be sitting there in dead silence at a traffic light.
I don't think I'll ever use it regularly, but it wasn't all that bad. I can't imagine it saves all that much gas in the real world.

I think (and confirmed by Porsche rep but not a mechanic/professional) that having the engine turn on and off every few minutes puts more wear on the parts that actual gas saved. The option is perhaps good if you are driving on long roads with infrequent traffic lights, but with infrequent traffic lights, how much gas are you really saving to have the engine turn off and then on.

But there is a section in one of the owners videos where they describe the feature and say that the starter and related components are more heavy duty to cope with the extra use.
I don't plan on having mine past the warranty period anyway.
Kinda puts a damper on launch mode which I like to exercise as often as possible.....mmmmuuuuhahahahahahah.

It seems as though almost anything other than perfect conditions will override the auto start/stop.
From what I can figure, it seems as though being on a incline, low temperature (and, I'd assume, high temps as well) will override your settings and turn off start/stop.
You also need to be slow and smooth off the brake and on the accelerator to keep the car from lurching forward.
It's feeling a bit like a novelty so the folks spending $100k+ on a big, powerful car can say "Oh, look how green I am! At stop lights my car shuts it self off to save the planet." (And then I get on the highway and do 110 for a bit.)
