Trade 2010 E63 for Pan 4s or will I need the Turbo?
One of my current rides is slowly wearing on me, the 2010 E63. Im seriously considering the Pan 4s and maybe even the Pan TT. I still have the GT-R and a new 2011 997 TT so I have a decent set of faster cars. The GTR has the HKS600 kit along with other mods so it traps over 130 and the PDK has the EvomsIT tune and Cargraphic exhaust. It really moves too. My E63 pales in comparo but I still enjoy its normally aspirated grunt.
The question I ask you (and I havent driven the Pan yet) is the 4s gonna be a little too slow for me? Some may say its ok since I have other fast cars but those of you who love to speed know that it sometimes is hard to go back to a slower car. I know the 4s is slower than the E63 but is it a deal breaker?
Id love your perspective, 4s owners and even TT owners.

Vic,
While playing with some one else's wallet is cool, I would say go with the PTT. Simple reason behind it is that with the arsenal of cars that you have, you will hate getting into the 4S. If the E63 is getting you bored, do not think twice and get the PTT, even though you wont go wrong with either 4S or PTT, you might not drive the 4S for lacking that extra hmmph the TT offers.
Just my .02.

The PTT is the king of the road in this class and almost any other class. I had an E55 and loved it, but the PTT is a whole different beast. It is 997TT fast. I fear you will not feel any difference between the 4S and the E63. That said all of the abovementioned are great and you will enjoy life with them. But I think if you are thinking about the PTT, go for it. If I remember correctly there are several members with PTT's, who went through a short period of 4S ownership.
Good luck, whatever you choose!

Initially i thought the 4S was a bit on the slow side, however, after a month of ownship, i have to say i'm satisfied with the performance, on U.S. highway or street, it is more than adequate. No it does not pull as hard as the turbo, but it is satifisfying enough for what it is. Given your selection of cars, i think 4s fits in nicely. What you gain from the trade (on the e63) is overall feel and exclusiveness. I have driven the PTT a few times, in the beginning it was a no brainer that the turbo was in a different league, now i think i made the right decision and found the sweet spot in terms of value. With the right options and the sport design package, 4s will make you smile.
If an extra 30k in cost is not an issue for you then of course get the PTT, but if it is then the 4S should be great. Living in OC, you should get the S instead of the 4S for a more agile sporty ride.
I look at it this way, the V6 panny is just as fast to 60 as my 06' bmw 750 and any mercedes s550. The V8 Panny will be as fast as a mercedes s63 and the PTT is all by itself getting to 60 in 3.5sec.
So with the S or 4S you are getting a more unique looking, better handling, more reliable, better MPG, cheaper price, and same luxury as the S63.
I was given a V6 panny for a whole week while my CTT was getting some bumper work and this car was turning heads more then my 911 and CTT combined. I was also very surprised with its quick take off.

Similar to you, I had a 997TT, I have a modded GTR and I chose the PTT. I test drove the 4S and turbo back to back. Probably the first 5 seconds of the test drive in the turbo I made my choice and went for the turbo. HUGE difference. I know I would have regretted the 4S simply because I had a high expectancy and the turbo gave me even more than I expected. I hope this helps.

I have owned both a 4S and a PTT and prior to that came out of a S63.
I regretted my 8 months with my 4S from the day I bought it as I was trying to be frugal and save some money. The S63 had far more grunt than the 4S and the missing torque made the 4S seem noticably slower. I can only imagine that the 4S would feel substantially slower than the E63.
As above the dealer let me drive a PTT as a loaner while my 4S was in for service, a sly move on their part, and within about 5 seconds I was hooked. The entire car (PTT) feels different than the 4S - the engine, ride, steering - everything. It almost reminds me of a S550 vs a S63 or E550 vs E63 - they are just different animals.
If money is an issue the 4S will be fine if you can swing the extra bucks the PTT has no equal. There are zero cars that can screw with you at a stoplight and that is fun - the other guy knows it too.
Good luck - either way it is a fine car.

Between your garage and knowing some of your preferences from the other forum that you mod, I can't imagine that you'd be happy with the 4S.
I've been looking at a 4S as a step up....for you it wouldn't be.

Thanks guys for all the input! I think you are right that I might feel that the 4S could feel a little sluggish compared to what I be dumping for it. Time to go drive the TT-----
Again, much appreciated opinions!!!!

You will never know the 4S is not adequate until you drive the PTT - then you're hooked. I bet less than 1 minute in the PTT is enough to do it.
A minute? That long?

Agree, don't test drive if not seriously looking to buy the PTT. It's that GREAT
