Standard Audio

Does anyone have the standard audio (not bose or burm)? I am wondering how it sounds. I know it is lacking an independent subwoofer (compared to bose and burm), but is the sound really that bad? I am not a big audio guy and will be listening mainly to the ipod or regular radio.

TIA

If you're not an audiophile so keep the standard system. I listened to it and it is quite adequate. Personally I opted for the Bose system because of the better sound and affordable price option. Your dealer must have a demo with it, I guess.

I have the Bose system too and I love it.. so sorry OP can't help

But yeah I agree that your dealer should be able to demo it for you.. especially if it will be the deciding factor if you buy the car or not

The reason for my concern is that I overlooked this option when I ordered the vehicle. I assumed that the standard audio would be "on par" with other premium brand cars and now I am concerned that I messed up my order. The car is locked in production, so there is no way to change it anymore. I am stressed about not including this option (I wish the dealer would of pointed this out), so I am trying to figure out if I am going to be really disappointed in the stock audio. As I mentioned, I only listen to radio, ipod and sometimes a CD. I do not have any 5.1 audio recordings, so I am not worried about the surround sound. I just hope it sounds clear and the volume can be turned up a bit without distortion. I appreciate all the input.

The fact that you overlooked the option of upgrading the stereo tells me that it probably wasn't a priority for you in the first place. Audio has always been a priority for me so I always purchase cars with upgraded sound systems and I have the Bose in my Panny. I would love to have had the Burmester but couldn't justify the added expense in my car considering what I have invested in my home system.

Audio is also another important option for me in purchasing cars. I use iphone to listen to music, the quality of burmester is incomparable with the USB connected for full potential. But since you are mostly listening to radios then I guess shouldn't be a big issue for you. Burmester FTW!

As I said earlier, don't worry the standard radio is quite enough (like the same ones, standard in other luxury cars)and will probably be plenty for your needs. Of course the Bose is a step upscale and Burmeister the summum.

There is a saying: Dont buy a more expensive audio system in your car than you have at home. The Burmester system is really good, you can make the sound come out exactly as you want, never heard a better oem system, but most of it is burried under tire noise, and I would NEVER pay 8000 euros for it. Bose audiosystem in an Audi also recently lost to the basic Audi audio system in a technical mag that also does audio tests. Then again I have been satisfied with my previous bose systems. Sounds like you made the correct choice with standard system for ipod and radio music.
