Smile Trading my 2014 CLA45 AMG for 2011 Panamera 4

Hi everyone,

Just signed up here and wanted to say hello.

This coming saturday I will be trading my 2014 CLA45 AMG in for a CPO 2011 Panamera 4 with 16k miles on it. The CLA45 is a decent car but its 4 cylinder sound just haunts me. Its also a bit small. I like the size of the Panamera and its sporty curves and roomier interior, especially in back for the kids.. It will be my first Porsche in my 20 years of driving.

I plan to do a few things to the Panamera fairly soon:

I have been looking for a nice spoiler to tone down the "bubble ***". I like the Extreme Dimensions style Eros V2 trunk spoiler. Not a far of having to 'make it fit' since its fiberglass. Looking for similar ones make of eurethane or a nice plastic that I can 3M tape on rather than drill the hatch lid.

Definitely looking to lower it ASAP with something like some H&R springs to attack that big wheel gap. If anyone has spring suggestions please feel free to recommend them. If anyone has some used lowering springs for sale let me know.

Wheels. Not a fan of the small 19" turbo wheels coming with the car. I am looking for some nice 20-22" wheels. If you or someone you know is selling some please let me know.

I am not one for used vehicles at all. Not knowing how it was *really* treated haunts me. The carfax is clean but we all know how that works. It will come with a CPO 2yr/50k mile warranty but I dont know the details of what that even covers, yet.

See you all in the threads!

Congrats. As long as its CPO its less worry.

H&R springs is what I used on mine, not stiff at all, still feels stock quality. Changing out my 19"s for some 20's or 21's.

as for rear spoiler going with either the Prior 600 or Vorsteiner

I loooooooove the Prior spoiler!!! On their site here it only looks like you can buy the full kit and not just the spoiler alone. Anyone know if the spoiler can be purchased alone? If so, through who?

I got mine used from fellow member (H&R) Springs. Be prepared the labor cost for install far exceeds cost of part.

Thanks for the link!

If you dont mind me asking, what did the spring install cost you? I typically do the labor myself on my cars. Is there something about the Panamera that makes it harder than other cars?

Congrats. Welcome.
Panamera is much sportier car than a CLA but CLA may much faster than a 6-banger Panamera. I would suggest to go with a S or 4S model if you like fast cars. I think Basic panamera is a waste of money. But if you like to show off and OWN a Porsche with 4 doors and a trunk - go for the basic. I jumped (about 3 weeks ago) from a 410HP BMW 7 to a Panamera Turbo (preowned '10 CPO at $75K with 17k miles) and I never looked back. Im so happy with the choice. I have so much fun with this car now. Go with the "S" man. You will have fun with that coming off from CLA AMG

I was getting charged from 700-1200 for installation some with alignment some without yet by reputable and known shops for a 300-400 spring LOL.

So I called my friend and his shop took care of me for 1/2 the price everyone was trying to charge.

Like doktorek said, you might be very disappointed with the performance of the Panny 4 coming from a CLA45. I suggest you look into a Panny S or 4S.
I've driven the A45 and I would take that 4 banger over a basic Panny any day. That's just me tho...

Wow, way to burst a guy's bubble. I assume he has driven the car and is okay with the power. I have lots, and lots of experience building and designing fast cars and if there is one thing 40 years of doing it has taught me, is that speed is not what makes a car fun to drive. You sound very excited about the car good luck with it.

For what it is worth, I have a 2011 Panamera 4 and I love it. Granted it is 6 cylinder, it has great balance of power, prestige, and price. Buy what you like and thumb you nose at those that think they know what is best for you.

I've owned three V8 Cayennes, including a GTS, and a Transsyberia (for sale now, but has the GTS engine).

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ilver-cpo.html

Sure, they are heavy vehicles. But powerful engines.

I've driven the base Panamera, and it feels quite good at legal speeds. I think when you go over those speeds (on closed courses) then you find yourself waiting for speed delivery at a rate that does not really come. But I was expecting it to be underpowered, and I don't think it is. I think 6 cylinder (and 4 cylinder) engines have come quite a ways recently.

Plus, I like the overall design of the Panamera. (Haha, I know I have lost all credibility since I also like the Cayenne shape and practicality).

Bottom line, be sure and enjoy the Panamera, don't let anyone tell you it's not a Porsche.

Guys, thank you all for the replies! In less than 48 hours I will have it. I am excited, but did just discover something foolish. It doesnt even come with a backup camera, or bluetooth. These things are standard in a lot of cars now.

Any of you know of a good backup cam that will work on the OEM nav unit? I don't want to drop ridiculous money on the oem "option".
