Question on RPM

Hi everyone,

New to Panamera, I'm looking at a car 14' with 10k I want to purchase, noticed on the rpm needle that is not completly steady when idle, bounces but its just minimum that you can barely noticed it and if you turn the steering wheel it will move a little bit, this is on idle.. Just wanted to know if this is completly normal..

Thank you All

Turning the steering wheel while idling will put excess strain on the power steering pump and thus cause the engine to labor a bit more and cause the idle to dip slightly for a moment. Normal.

Same thing will happen if you turn AC on or off or if you turn on a big electric power consumption source.

I have the exact same issue. I asked the dealer and he said on the shops computer the idle was perfectly stable (as it sounds and feels) but the needle does move just a bit. He said he reached out to Germany - maybe just to make me happy. I've not heard anything back but the car drives and behaves normally.

Exactly what everyone said, its normal you will notice it more with an exhaust (valve off) on a cold start, until it cools down, at least thats from my personal experience.

thanks guys, this is my first Panamera I'm getting used to it, also not sure if you guys noticed this but on mine if I'm driving and I let the foot off the gas pedal the RPM needle drops around the 600 rpms and sometimes just stay steady on the 2k

If you have a 2012 or newer it's likely the "coast" feature.

No worries - it saves fuel. If you turn off the auto stop/start you'll also disable the "coast" function.
