PTTS for Ferrari FF

I am thinking about selling my 2014 PTTS and getting a 2014 Ferrari FF. I am just wondering if anyone on the forum has any experience with the FF.

I love that V12 engine and it may be a thing of the past.

I love the FF so it will be unfair if I give you my opinion.

For all I know, I'd give my left nut for the FF or F12, plus the PTT, in a heartbeat. The only thing with a Ferrari is the expectations that you have to have, more expensive valets, out of warranty repairs, places you visit with it, the extra good/bad attention, chick magnet so it wont go fine with THE lady, upgrade of your house if its the same value as your car, etc...

Now on the good side, that Saturday night/Sunday morning drive, priceless!

I have had my share of Italian iron (Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati) in the last 14 years, I have owned 8 of them (I don't count the Abarth in that number), Beast has some good points, the attention (though that varies depending on where you live) can get to be annoying after a while, and I think the Panamera is somewhat practical (if a car costing as much as they do can be considered practical), and can be a great cruiser as well as a tire burner when need be. One of my Ferrari's was a 2004 575 and that V12 is like a freight train (never seems to run out of power), and it served me well, but it never felt like I thought a Ferrari should, so I replaced it with a 2006 430 gearshift coupe (my favorite Ferrari and the last one I would own), since in my mind a Ferrari should have 3 pedals. There is a different mindset when it comes to ownership of these cars, for instance most owners understand that sometimes parts take weeks to arrive and since most owners have multiple cars this is not a big deal. One of the cars I own now is a 3013 BMW 650 coupe (with the Dinan upgrades) and it reminds be in some ways of the 575, front engine tons of power and it goes like a freight train too. I am sure you would enjoy the FF, but I think you might miss many of the features the Panamera has more than you might think.

I've been considering the same thing and the PTTS is my daily driver so the FF would be to. The challenge I'm having is that it's tough to find used FF optioned comparably to the Panamera (heated/ventilated seats, camera, etc) which is crazy given the price points on the FF & then there are some options that just aren't even available (heated steering wheel, retractable rear shades) and I'm struggling spending $200K while giving up things. The FF isn't any faster than my PTTS and the PTTS is definitely more practical and comfortable for more than 2 people. My local Ferrari dealer says I should plan on budgeting $4-$5K annually for routine maintenance and he says I don't even want to think about owning the car without some sort of factory warranty (either original or extended) which costs another $5K per year once factory one has expired. So all these things have kept me from making a jump. I think it all depends on how much you value that prancing horse. At this point I'm always looking, but I'll probably hold out for the release of the new panamera or an RS7.

I have been a member of Ferrarichat (Carnut on there) for about 13 years. My advise before you decide to join that ownership club would be to spend some time on that forum. I do not always agree with every ones opinions (like the cars have souls statements) on there, but there are many owners who have not drank the kool aid and can offer real perspectives on what ownership is truly like. I remember when I spec'd out my first new Ferrari, I was amazed the car did not even come with power seats (and option that cost over 2K and that was before adding the Daytona seat option), and back then the stereo's still came with cassette decks, navigation (another expensive option was a joke) systems were rare. My 430 2006 430 coupe was one of the few that had the heated seat option (they only offered it as an option for a brief time if I remember correctly so I added it), which was a big deal back then for a Ferrari. I live about 10 minutes from Algar Ferrari (they were mentioned in one of my novels) and I am still friendly with many of the staff. My girlfriend test drove a California when we went looking for a convertible for her. She loved the look but ended up with a BMW 650 convertible, when I asked her why she took that over a Ferrari she said this to me. I need a car for the way my life is not for the way I'd want it to be. She is a very smart lady and I think her statement is pretty good advise. I would never tell anyone not to buy a Ferrari, owning them has been a experience I will always treasure, but I think you need to go in with both eyes open and be prepared for all aspects of ownership.

No one here is mentioning looks. If you ask me, the FF is just ugly especially compared to PTTS.

I have both and there is no comparison. The PTTS is boring compared to the FF. You need to drive and spend time with both to understand. My FF has been bullet proof. Not a single issue so far. Modern Ferrari's, and I've owned several, are very reliable.

What year is your PTTS? I had one a PTT in 2011 and its is nothing like the 2014 PTTS I have now. The 2011 PTT was not as fun as the 2014 PTTS I have now. I think with the refresh in 2014 they tweaked somethings and there is a huge improvement. Is it as fun as a FF I am not sure. When I drove the FF it was raining bad so I didn't get to push it to much.
