The crappy washer was the problem. Went back to OEM washer and it was fine. No need for a torque wrench on a drain plug.

Had to pull of the huge under cover to access the PDK fluid drain plug. Low and behold there was a slight leak at the drain plug, (plug reused twice new gasket torqued to 30 Nm). Loosened slightly then retorqued to 31 Nm. Cleaned up and now monitoring, I left the cover off for now until I finish the intermediate service completely...

31 Nm on my old never recalibrated Craftsman torque wrench stopped the seeping.

Did this today. Took 9.5 quarts to bring a 2012 turbo up to 4/5 bars full.

Did oil change today and thought I’d share how to check the oil level using a PIWIS 2. This saves you from driving 10km or so before the instrument cluster shows the oil level on the display. I started by adding 8L upfront to get in “the range”.

1. PIWIS Tester II must be connected and ignition switched on.

2. Start the diagnostic program and select the required vehicle.

3. Select the DME control unit in the control unit overview. Press [F12] to continue.

4. Select the Maintenance/repairs menu. Press [F12] to continue.

5. Select the Oil filling function. Press [F12] to continue.

6. Start the engine and let it run until the engine oil temperature reaches 90° C (rev the engine if necessary to heat the oil and bring up the temperature).

7.The oil level measurement process starts automatically as soon as an engine oil temperature. of 90° C is reached.

8. The PIWIS 2 will display how much oil to add to bring to max full.

8. Switch off engine.

9. Add the quantity of oil displayed on the PIWIS Tester 2.

I’ve noticed the instrument cluster oil gauge is sitting between “min” and “max” (i.e. not right at the very top) but the PIWIS 2 is showing max full.
