Trickifish….I couldn't replace the bulbs for my reverse lights. I added a couple of Oznium sealed LED's on either side of the license plate. Electrically spliced into the reverse light wiring. I think the post was "Auxiliary Reverse Light". It helped a lot.
I am having the same issue as 970gts. Looks like my tail lights are the newer version with the reverse being a white strip along the bottom (image below). By the looks of them, I would assume they are already LED. But I have the same issue as everyone else in the thread with very low light when backing up at night and basically being able to see nothing in my rear camera. Anyone know if there is a way to possibly upgrade the LEDs in these?
If you are in the UK these LED bulbs are fantastic.
So much brighter than the original bulbs. Now I can actually see at night in my reverse camera!!
Oh, and they don’t need resistors (well they haven’t set off any warnings on my 2010). And they won’t burn your wiring up either. They pull 0.7A vs 1.3A for the original incandescent bulb. https://www.auto-lighting.co.uk/prod...ens-WHITE.html

Reviving this thread. Now that winter is coming here in the Great White North, I need more reversing light! Unfortunately, I have the sealed tail light units. Have a 2014 4S.
Can anyone confirm if they actually cut open a sealed tail light and managed to do an LED bulb swap? Other suggestions for more light in the back are welcome as well.
Also, will changing the license plate bulbs to LED help gain more light?
vbk123 I suspect your best option is along the lines of what 970gts did in post #64
Thanks @DogWood ! I remember @970gts’s solution to this problem. Very creative and I’ll likely need to go down the same path. Wondering how the Ozinium lights attach to the sides of the license plate? Screw in or double sided tape?
I believe @elShiz was considering “opening up” a sealed unit to try a bulb swap? Any updates on this or are the sealed tail light units confirmed to be non-servicable?
Also came across this on the Cayenne forum where lack of rear light also seems to be a problem. Anyone have any experience with this?
I have the Ozinium lights on my 4S, they attach by very strong 2 sided 3M tape.
Thanks @ScottDy ! Will be considerably cheaper that license plate light option. Does the tape stand-up to regular washing including power washer? Easy mod to do? Auto electric is NOT my forte.
I haven't power washed my car before so I don't know but it should, the tape is very strong and the lights don't weigh much at all. The install is pretty simple although you have to splice into the reverse light wiring at the taillight connection. It's pretty simple, if you decide to do it let me know and we can go over it.
Hey ScottDy! Looks like I’ll have to do the Oznium mod to get more rear light. Any tips on how to get the wires from the installed location next to the license plates and into the bumper? Also any help on how to splice these wires into the tail light wiring is very much appreciated! Thanks in advance!
Sorry for the late response, I usually get an email when someone replies to a thread I'm involved with. I've got a few things going on right now and I'm supposed to be going on vacation Thursday night so I haven't got time for a detailed response right now but in a nutshell...
The lamp modules can be mounted at the top edges of the license plate frame with the wires facing up (there is a channel in the back of the lamp base that the wires will fit into so that it mounts flush). The wires can be brought up towards the trunk rubber molding and tucked under the molding and brought to either the left or right taillight (i took one to each side but 970GTS just went to one side and spliced the wires from both lamps together and that worked as well) You need to remove the taillight(s) and if you look closely there is a small gap between the taillight opening and the hatch opening that you can get the wire through. Once you do this you just need to connect the LED hot wire(s) to the backup light wire at the taillight plug (it's the wire in the A3 position on the plug and connect the ground to A2. I used these wire connectors I found on Amazon,
