I’ve always felt the orange side marker lights on the bumper didn’t match the aesthetic of the car. When I 1st got my 970.2 in 2017 I looked for options to replace them. I was surprised to find that there were no OEM or aftermarket options available. Most people who felt as I did would get them tinted with film to make them disappear.
There are now 2 aftermarket options available...clear and tinted. Suncoast has the tinted. I ordered off eBay as I wanted clear lenses. Here’s a link to the ones I ordered (no affiliation):
They arrived promptly and well packaged. Excellent quality, exact fit, and plug & play. They are clear when off but light up orange when on (presumably to satisfy North American road safety standards). They are LED bulbs so have impressive illumination.
For install:
1. Remove the two T-25 screws holding the plastic wheel well housing.
2. Pop out the existing side markers from behind. There is a retention clip (see pic).
3. Use a small flathead screwdriver to lift up and release the clip securing the wire harness.
4. Connect new side marker (need to press firmly to make connection but it WILL snap in place).
5. Reassemble.
Hope this helps!
Well packaged. Looks like OEM quality. Left and right side markers in box. Exact fit. Here are the OEM part numbers of the orange side markers that I replaced. If you have the same part numbers then these aftermarket lights will fit. Comparison to OEM. Beige is OEM orange and black is aftermarket clear. Remove this T-25 screw. Also remove this second T-25 screw. Here is the location in the wheel well of the two T-25 screws that you need to remove to access the back side of the side marker lights. Need T-25 screwdriver. Release this clip from behind to “push out” the light. Small flathead screwdriver to lift “up” on the wire harness clip. New side marker installed and wire harness reconnected. Have to push quite firmly to get the wire harness to seat on the clear side marker light but it WILL snap in place!
looks great!, was it very hard to figure out how to lower it with the PIWIS II? got my hands on a PIWIS III setup and would like to do something similar

Hey @DogWood! It took me a long time to find the process to lower using the PIWIS 2. I started by researching on-line and through the various Panamera forums. I reached out to other Panamera forums participants who had posted that they had successfully lowered using the PIWIS but got no replies. In the end, I reached out to a couple of guys (THANK YOU @Santirx and @Ray_S!!) on MacanForum and they walked me through the process step-by-step. I must admit, I never would have figured it out on my own. I will try to do up a DIY and post it for us Panamera owners.
Looks like many more are getting PIWIS 2 and 3 units so definitely becoming more "mainstream". I recently dumped my Durametric Pro cable in favour of the PIWIS set-up. So much more powerful! In the end, it cost me less to set up a PIWIS 2 (I'm using the VirtualBox set up as outlined on MHHAuto and Planet9) than the cost of the Durametric. I actually recovered money selling the Durametric Pro cable and setting up the PIWIS as my only cost was the VCI from OBD2tool!
vkb123 sounds great, looking forward to your write up.
I really wanted a durametric when I first got my car, especially since they are local to me, but reading up on it it left something to be desired for the Panamera.
