Hi, Panamera 970 Turbo 4.8 V8. The engine makes a strange sound. The camshaft adjuster wheel bolts (aluminum) have been replaced with steel. So that problem bolts have been taken care of. The strange sound is exactly the same as in this YouTube video. At first, the valve cover gasket was poorly installed and leaking.
The vacuum in the crankcase disappeared in the same way if the oil cap were removed. It has now been repaired.
The engine is running normally and there are no fault codes (when the oil cap is in place). Yeah, I know the oil cap should not be removed while the engine is running.
But.... Does anyone know where that strange sound is coming?
See this YouTube video
Turbo S
Edit:
A Porsche dealer/service answered me. There is no need to worry
Suction leakage in the valve cover seal (what was before but is now fixed) or after opening the oil cap causes a variety of problems in adjusting the valve timing. The cam chain may start to hold a strange sound. It is normal.
So everything is fine now

Left the cap off our Toyota Sienna like that once. Nevermore, nevermore....
Thanks for sharing. I'm not sure any service procedures have one remove the cap while engine is running...
So. The cap should not be opened while the engine is running...

The engine on the Sienna made funny sounds even after replacing the cap.
Since the engine on the Porsche is much much more expensive I would highly recommend not trying that unless you have official instructions that somehow say to do so, so please don't for your wallet's sake, just in case....
The motor sounds noisy over and above removing the filler cap. Is that normal, have you had any more replies to what is happening. When I removed oil cap and put it back on my noise level that was normally present reduced. Noise level sounds like lifters rattling.
I got an answer from a Porsche dealer. The cap should not be removed while the engine is running. The vacuum disappears and causes malfunctions, etc. The same sound is heard if, for example, the valve cover gasket is not properly in place. Appear the suction leak, just like in my Panamera. Well, it is repaired a no noise anymore. But if I remove the cap, a strange noise appears. There is no fault or problem.

Hi Jussi,
I have the same problem in my Panamera. Strong vacuum and strange noise when a open the cap.
What was the problem in your car?
Hi,
Correct. When engine is running and the vacuum disappears in some reason, you can hear noise. For example oil cap is removed, but also if there is a leaking gasket or some vacuum pipe.
